North Adams, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's lacrosse
team jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the first half and never looked back
as they defeated the MCLA Trailblazers 15-8 this afternoon in
Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at
Shewcraft Field.
With the win the Rams improve to 6-3 on the season and now 2-0 in the
conference. The loss drops the Trailblazers to 3-5 overall and 0-2 in
the conference.
Sophomore Kimmy Foley tallied a pair of goals in the first four
minutes of the game to put the Rams
on top for good. Natalie Caney cut
the deficit in half for the Trailblazers with a free position shot just
under nine minutes into the first. The Rams rattled off a 7-1 run to
close the first half and take control of the game.
Foley finished the game with five goals for the Rams, while freshman Erin Lally
added three and an assist. The Trailblazers were led by three goals
from Caney and two goals apiece from Mackenzie Cutler and Courtney
Gabrus.
Freshman Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath earned the win in net for the Rams making six saves, while Zoe Elwell made 12 stops for the Trailblazers.
The Rams are back in action on Tuesday with a non-conference game at Eastern Connecticut at 5 pm.
