The win moves the Lyons to 23-7 on the season, while the Golden Bears slip to 21-6.
Zachary Goodwin-Boyd and Tyler Walsh each finished 2-for-4 from the plate with two runs scored,
while Walsh led the team with three RBI. Joey Santigate also finished 2-for-4, knocking in two runs, while coming around to score once.
First-year Tommy Larason remains undefeated on the hill for Wheaton, picking up his fourth win of the year after pitching seven complete innings, allowing three runs on four hits, while striking out six.
Kevin Marciano and Matt Calzone each finished 1-for-3 for the Golden Bears. Chris Casey collected his first loss of the year after just 2.2 innings of work, giving up eight runs on seven hits.
Goodwin-Boyd and Walsh each picked up their first hits of the game in the first inning, starting with a two-RBI single to center by Goodwin-Boyd. Senior Matt Lavanchy and junior Joshua LaJoie each scored on the play, after earning free passes by the Golden Bear pitcher. Walsh followed that with a homerun to left center, making it a 5-0 contest.
The Golden Bears earned a run back in the top of the third with Doug Milne coming in to score from third on a wild pitch. The senior led off the inning with a double to right center, before moving to third on a fly out.
Wheaton countered in the bottom half of the inning with three more runs, taking a 8-1 advantage. Santigate started the scoring with a two-RBI double to left. The sophomore catcher came around to score the Lyons final run of the inning on a single down the left field line by Ryan McKeon.
Jared Sharkey crossed home for the Lyons final run of the game in the fifth, coming in on a balk, after reaching on a triple down the right field line.
Marciano put two more runs on the board for the Golden Bears in the seventh with a homerun to left.
