HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Eagles got on the board early, scoring a run on the first. Sciortino and junior Michael Strem tallied back-to-back, one-out singles and Cronin loaded the bases with a walk. With two down, Adams drew a walk to bring in the first run of the game before a strikeout ended the inning.
  • The Cardinals tied the game in the third as Colin Lyman reached on an error and moved into scoring position on a chopper to second. With two down, Colby Fitch singled up the middle to plate Louisville's only run of the game.
  • BC retook the lead in the bottom of the inning, scoring three to go up, 4-1. With one down, the Eagles loaded the bases on a walk and base hits by Cronin and Martellini. Adams knocked the first pitch he saw to right to plate two. With runners on second and third, senior Logan Hoggarth lined one to right, allowing Martellini to come home on the tag up.
  • The Eagles added two in the sixth to take the 6-1 lead with reliever RHP Sam Bordner on the mound. Senior Gabriel Hernandez led off with a walk and scored on Palomaki's double to the corner in left. Palomaki stole third as Sciortino drew a walk and Strem plated him with a safety squeeze.
