The Lions responded with three straight goals in a span of four minutes to reclaim the lead. With just under eight minutes remaining in the half, Notarangelo recorded the first of back-to-back goals to tie the game. The Engineers then went ahead, 6-4, at the intermission courtesy of free-position shots from Levy and Young.
The Cardinal and Gray extended its run into the second stanza as its advantage grew to 11-5 with 16:37 on the clock. Emerson ended its 12-minute scoring drought with two quick goals but Schott won the ensuing draw and went right to the net, giving MIT a 12-7 lead with 11:32 remaining. The Lions replied with a free-position goal less than a minute later; however, the Engineers countered with a blast by Levy with six minutes left to play. Despite the deficit Emerson continued to attack, closing the gap to 13-11 with 1:23 to go. The hosts won the draw and produced two shots down the stretch with the last one getting stopped by Boal with five ticks left.
