UMass Dartmouth announces new scholarship for student entrepreneurs

The Jumpin’ into Entrepreneurship Scholarship rewards equity in innovation

On March 16, 2021, UMass Dartmouth launched the Jumpin’ into Entrepreneurship Scholarship, which established an annual student entrepreneur competition to award scholarship funds.

MAYOR WALSH ANNOUNCES APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR FUNDING FOR ORGANIZATIONS SUPPORTING CHILDCARE

Applicants should prioritize equitable access; strengthens worker pay


BOSTON - Friday, March 12, 2021 - Mayor Martin J. Walsh, the Mayor’s Office of Women’s Advancement (MOWA) and the Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA) today announced the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) of $250,000 in funding to support organizations working to create equitable access to child care services in Boston. Grantees will be awarded until the fund is exhausted. Childcare providers, nonprofit organizations, community stakeholders are encouraged to apply. The application period is now open and proposals will be accepted through April 23, 2021. Application can be found here.

Gloucester Firefighters Extinguish Back-to-Back Fires

GLOUCESTER -- Chief Eric Smith reports that the Gloucester Fire Department extinguished two fires back-to-back Sunday morning.

GLOUCESTER — Chief Eric Smith reports that the Gloucester Fire Department extinguished two fires back-to-back Sunday morning. 

At 7:40 a.m., the Gloucester Fire Department was dispatched to Home Style Laundry, 212 Main St., for a report of a fire. Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke inside the building and identified and quickly extinguished a small fire burning inside a dryer, which had extended into the dryer’s vent.
