Framingham State University Baseball Edged 10-9 by Plymouth State In 10 Innings

Plymouth, N.H. – Freshman Josh Goulet (Nashua, N.H.) drew a two-out, bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning Friday afternoon to push Plymouth State to a 10-9 victory over Framingham State University in a non-conference baseball game at Panther Park.

PSU pulled out the win after surrendering an early 6-0 lead and then coming back from a 9-6 deficit. The Panthers scored two in the seventh inning and one in the eighth to draw even and then won it in the 10th. PSU ups its record to 16-14 while the Rams drop to 10-17.

Goulet went 3-for-5 for the Panthers with two doubles and three runs batted in, and junior James
Garnett (Newport, R.I.) went 3-for-4 with a double. Junior Eric Leitch (Lanesboro, Mass.) had a double, a triple and two runs batted in, extending his hitting streak to 14 games. Senior Dave Hall (Groton, Conn.) reached base five times on three hit-by-pitches, a walk and a single.

Freshmen Kyle Dembrowski (Natick, Mass.) and Anthony Venuti (Braintree, Mass.) each drove in three runs for the Rams, and senior Jon Chapman (Waltham, Mass.) clouted his sixth home run of the season.

The Panthers went up big early with three runs in the first and second innings. Junior Jarek Krajewski (Cranston, R.I.) doubled in a run and Leitch tripled to drive in a pair in the first inning, and a sacrifice fly by senior Jake Broom (New London, N.H.) and a two-run single by Hall made it 6-0 after two.

Framingham came right back and tied it with a six-spot in the top of the third. Venuti delivered a three-run double to put the Rams on the board, senior Ryan Connelly (West Roxbury, Mass.) later drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home a run, and Dembrowski followed with a two-run single.
The Rams pulled ahead on Chapman's two-run homer to right in the fourth inning, and tacked on another run in the fifth when sophomore Kyle Pileski (Bristol, Conn.) doubled and came home on Dembrowski's single.

PSU started its comeback in the seventh inning with two runs, thanks to a single by Garnet and doubles by Leitch and Goulet. The Panthers manufactured the tying run in the eighth when Hall was hit by a pitch, went from first to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Krajewski.
The Panthers pulled it out in the 10th inning, as Hall was hit by a pitch and Garnett doubled to left center. Leitch was intentionally walked to load the bases, and Goulet's walk proved to be the game-winner.

Junior Connor MacRae (Newburyport, Mass.), the fifth of PSU's pitchers, earned the win with two-and-a-third innings of one-hit, no-run relief.
