Six Student-Athletes to Represent Women's Gymnastics at NCGA National Championships on March 23

Springfield, Mass. - March 11, 2019 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics team will have six student-athletes compete at the 2019 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) National Championship meet, which will be hosted at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Saturday, March 23.

All six of these student-athletes were named to the NCGA All-Championship Team, honoring their hard work throughout the regular season and regional championship that helped earn them a spot on the nationsl stage.

Of the six student-athletes, senior Jess Clemens (South Setauket, N.Y.) will represent the Pride in the all-around competition, and she will be joined by Ali Rushlow (Worcester, Mass.)and Taylor Jackson (Ocean, N.J.) on vault, Sara King (Maribor, Slovenia) and Sarah Murphy (Norwell, Mass.) on beam and Tali Twomey (Cotuit, Mass.) on floor.

Clemens was the No. 2-ranked all-around gymnast in all of Division III with a season-average score of 38.0625, as she also smashed the program record with a 38.750 in the maroon and white's final meet of the regular season on March 3 versus Rhode Island College. Clemens was also recognized on the All Championship Team on the uneven bars and beam.

Rushlow qualified for the NCGA National Championships for her performance at the NCGA East Regional Championship this past weekend, as she produced a 9.700 to tie for fourth on the event. Rushlow was also joined on the All-Championship Team by Jackson, who qualified for the national stage via her season-average score of 9.5313 heading into last weekend's competition.

King has been sensational for the Pride in the second half of the season, including posting a career-best mark of 9.700 on beam at the NCGA East Regional meet this past weekend, which placed her third overall and qualified her for the national competition. Murphy qualified based on her season-average score of 9.6375, which was ranked No. 5 in the region and No. 8 in the nation.

Lastly, joining Clemens on the floor exercise is Twomey, who is the defending national champion in the event after posting a 9.900 on the national stage a year ago. Twomey also qualified for the NCGA National Championship based on her season-average score, which was ranked No. 4 in the nation at 9.7688.
