The Fighting Scots continue their spring training tomorrow, March 14 as they face Westfield State in a doubleheader contest starting at 9 a.m.
Game One:
- It was scoreless until the third inning, when Megan Jenkerson brought home Meredith Kercher, who singled her way on base, by hitting up the middle to give the Scots a 1-0 lead. With two outs, Caitlin Catalanatto doubled her way on, platting Jenkerson to go ahead two.
- The 2-0 Gordon lead continued until the home half of the fifth as the Lions rallied to score five runs taking a comfortable three-run lead. Katie Tarter (Sr./Fairfield, Ohio) hit a double to lead-off the bottom half of the sixth and later scored taking a 6-2 advantage and eventual win.
- Jenkerson laced a triple down the left field line to lead off the bottom of the first, in prime position for Karissa Hatchell to knock her in a few pitches later to score first again.
- Two Lasers rounded the bases, putting up a two-spot on the board in the top of the second.
- In the bottom of the third, Gordon managed to string together five hits, scoring three runs to regain the lead. Laura Bieren doubled to left scoring Jenkerson before Catalanatto and Bieren traded places as Catalanatto doubled to the left side again, allowing Bieren to give the Scots another run to lead 4-2.
- Kercher reached safely on an infield hit to lead off the bottom of the fourth, and with two outs used her speed to score from second after Bieren reached on an error to the second baseman to take the 5-2 lead and eventual win.
- The Fighting Scots are clicking well, winning four games so far in their PFX Spring Games tenure, which is the most that the Scots have collected this early in the season.
- Megan Jenkerson has totaled three triples in the last five games.
- Rose Shannon roped her first double of her senior season.
