defeated the Pioneers by a final score of 15-7.
The Blue are back to .500 on the year, improving to 4-4,
while Smith drops to 7-2. Both teams now stand at 1-1 in NEWMAC

First year Eleanor Mallett
(Berwick, Maine) capitalized on a free position shot 47 seconds into
the first half and the Blue never trailed en route to the victory. The
goal was one of six on the day for Mallett as she teamed up with seniors
Dacia Persky (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Olivia Strobl
(Stafford, Va.) to score 14 of the 15 goals for Wellesley. Junior
Hannah Masiano (Gambrills, Md.) picked up the other Blue goal on a free

Blue goals and is now only 13 points away from 100 in her career. Persky
is now just 11 points shy of 200 in her Wellesley career after
finishing the day with six points.
Wellesley's defense stymied the Pioneers for the majority
of the game, but senior Emily Biggs (Florence, Mass.) was able to lead
her team with four goals on nine shots. Sophomore Kaitlin Chiu (Palo
Alto, Calif.) and senior Clelie Fielding (Francestown, N.H.) also
tallied a goal and an assist for Smith.
Strobl picked up two of her three goals in the first two
minutes to push Wellesley ahead 3-0, before Persky took over and scored
four of her five goals to give the Blue an 8-3 lead heading into
halftime. The Blue continued to keep the pressure on Smith as the
Pioneers never came within four goals from the lead in the second half.
Briggs scored three of her four goals in the second frame, but Mallett
continued to answer for the Blue, tallying five of her six goals to
solidify the win.
Wellesley first year Lorna Li
(Taunton, Mass.) made a career high 15 saves to earn her third win of
her career, moving her to 3-2 on the season. First year Alyssa Schams

The Blue had the edge in draw controls (13-11), but the
Pioneers topped the Blue by a 27-25 margin in ground balls. The Blue
were 3-for-9 on free position attempts, while Smith finished 2-of-8.
Up next for both teams will be a non-conference matchup

with Gunarathne going three innings and earning the victory and Velucci
tossing the final two.
Kara Adams took the loss for the Trailblazers going two innings and allowing 10 runs, nine earned, on 10 hits with three walks.
The Trailblazers lone baserunner of the game came in the top of the
first inning when Kaitlyn Berghela reached on an error to lead off the

inning scoring five runs. Adam plated the first with a bloop single to
center and Sherman followed with a two-run base hit. Freshman Laela Pepin
(Acushnet, Mass.) plated the fourth run of the frame on an RBI single
to center and final came when Ziner drove in Pepin with a single to
left.
Five runs was all the Rams would need as Gunarathne retired the
Trailblazers in order in the seventh recording a pair of strikeouts.
Gunarathne earned her second victory of the day going seven innings

Boston College trailed early, but took its first lead in the second
inning. The two sides traded single runs in the fourth and fifth inning

After Siena tied the game with two in the top of the seventh, junior shortstop Brian Dempsey (Potomac, Md.)

third on a groundball to the right side of the bat of freshman second
baseman Cody Morissette (Exeter, N.H.) with the eventual game-winning run.
The Eagles totaled 14 hits in the game as six players recorded a multi-hit game. Senior designated hitter Gian Martellini (Johnston, R.I.) led the way at 3-for-4 with two runs driven in. Junior center fielder Dante Baldelli (Cumberland, R.I.) was 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.
Senior right-handed pitcher Jack Nelson (Sparta, N.J.)

BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Boston College softball team suffered a tough 1-0
loss to non-conference foe Providence at the Harrington Athletics
Village on Wednesday afternoon.
Boston College dropped to 8-15 on the season, while Providence improved to 14-10.
Freshman pitcher Susannah Anderson went the distance, scattered eight hits, struck out three and gave up one run.
It was the defense that hurt the Eagles as they committed four errors,
two in the sixth inning, when Providence scored the lone run of the
game. BC's offense went silent as freshman Emme Martinez managed the only hit in the second inning.
Providence had two on in the first inning on one hit and an error.
Anderson fought back and got Crista San Antonio to pop out to end the
inning unscathed.
In the third, the Friars opened the inning with a single and another
error put two runners on base. Anderson worked her way out of the inning
by getting a strikeout, and ground out and a foul pop to the catcher Gianna Boccagno to end the inning without any damage.
It was in the sixth inning where the errors caught up with the Eagles.
San Antonio reached first on an error, followed by a single to right
center. Anderson got Jackie Martin to fly out to right field. A single
by Hadley Tate put two on and one out. The next batter hit a ground ball
to Martinez at third. The Eagles infielder cut down the runner going
home, but Providence scored on a bad throw to first. Anderson maneuvered
out of the inning as Skie Villani grounded out to Martinez at third.
The Eagles had two innings to tie the game but the Friars rookie pitcher
Daniela Alvarez continued to baffle the BC hitters. She struck out two
in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh to earn her eighth win
of the season. Alvarez gave up one hit, struck out 11 in seven innings.

LOS ANGELES, Calif.- On the final day of its west
coast campaign, the Harvard softball team (6-9) fell to Boise State
(20-4), 6-0, and Loyola Marymount (18-11), 3-2.
Boise State; L, 6-0
In the first of two games on the day, Boise State quickly leaped to a
3-0 lead in the bottom of the second. The Broncos added to their lead
with a run in the fourth followed by two more in the sixth. Throughout
the contest, Harvard struggled to put runners on base, as the only two
hits came from Morgan Melito at the top of the fifth with a single to right and Teagan Shaw's right side single in the seventh, but it was not enough in the end.
Loyola Marymount; L, 3-2
Beginning with a pitcher's duel for the first three innings, the
Lions threatened to score in the bottom of the third with bases loaded
and two outs on the board, but first-year Grace Krantz
forced the batter to fly out to left field. One inning later, LMU broke
through the Crimson's tough defense to have three runs cross the plate.
Now with Aleissa Heiner, followed by Katie Duncan in the circle, Harvard shut down the Lions for the remainder of the game allowing the squad to answer back.
In a late minute push at the top of the sixth, Teagan Shaw singled down the right field line, allowing Erin Lockhart
who reached base by a walk to cross the plate for the first Crimson
run. Now trailing by two with two outs and a runner on third, Meagan Lantz
duplicated Shaw for another RBI single. The small rally ended there as
Harvard could not carry that momentum into the seventh and fell to the
Lions, 3-2.
Harvard Highlights
Collecting one of two hits in each contest, Teagan Shaw has now collected at least one hit in four consecutive games.
Additionally, Shaw continues to lead the team with a .350 batting average and a .700 slugging percentage.

The Crimson responded to an early four-goal run for the Orange with
consecutive goals at 19:31 and 18:01 of the opening half from Keating
and Muldoon to make it 4-2. The Crimson stayed within striking distance
behind MacAfee's free position goal with 3:05 to play, which made it

Harvard held Syracuse scoreless for a span of 18:32 late in the
second, scoring three consecutive goals with Hulslander (16:38) and
