DELAND, Fla. – Kaycee Carbone hit two home runs and drove in four as the University of Massachusetts softball team racked up a season-high 15 runs in a 15-2 game two win on their way to a doubleheader split against Stetson on Wednesday at the Patricia Wilson Field. Game One – Stetson 2, UMass 1 (9 inn.) - Box Score
The opening game of the series proved to be a pitchers' duel between UMass' Kiara Oliver and Stetson's Tori Perkins as both hurlers allowed a combined 10 hits in 17.2 innings of work with Oliver striking out five. Oliver finished the game with 8.2 innings pitched and one earned run allowed.

Stetson scored the opening run of the afternoon in the 5th inning on a two-out single up the middle by Ashly Smith to go ahead 1-0.

UMass did not trail for long as Carbone answered back the next trip to the plate for the Minutewomen with a solo blast over the wall in right to tie it up at 1-1. Carbone's third home run of the season helped the senior go 2-for-3 at the plate before she was intentionally walked with Riley Gregoire 60-feet from the plate in the top of the eighth inning after Gregoire singled to lead off extras.

The Minutewomen faced two runners in scoring position in the bottom of the ninth inning, picking up two straight outs to keep the runners at second and third, retiring a runner at the plate on a squeeze bunt attempt before a game-ending error secured the Stetson win, 2-1.

Game Two – UMass 15, Stetson 2 (6 inn.) - Box Score
The Minutewomen built a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning on a pair of hits with four free passes as Erin Stacevicz led off the inning with a single before an intentional walk to Carbone, her second of the day, led to a Melissa Garcia single that loaded the bases with one down.

Three consecutive free passes began with an Amy Smith pinch-hit walk to break open the scoring before Alyssa Lyon was hit-by-a-pitch to bring in the second run. Jackie Kelley worked the final walk of the inning to put the Minutewomen ahead 3-0 and force a Stetson pitching change.

UMass broke the game open with a 12-run bottom of the sixth inning, taking advantage of a few Stetson errors early in the frame to add the first run before Stacevicz drove in the first run of the inning followed by a Kaitlyn Stavinoha two-RBI single to right that put the Minutewomen up 6-0.

Carbone cleared the bases the following at-bat with her second home run of the day, slamming a three-run shot to left field that brought the count to 9-0 with no outs on the board.

After three consecutive walks loaded the bases, a fourth walk from Gregoire brought in another run.

Caroline Videtto came up with her first hit of the season, a RBI single to left field that scored Alyssa Lyon. Kristina Day picked up her first collegiate hit the following at-bat, crushing a two-RBI double to the gap in left center field to bring the count to 13-0. Shea Newsome came up with her first career hit and RBI, sending a single to left field on a full count for the 11th run of the inning prior to a Hannah Bunker walk that brought home the 12th and final of the frame.

Quinn Breidenbach won her fourth game of the season to move to 4-2 on the year, allowing just two hits in 5.0 innings of work before Kenadee Rausch closed things out in the bottom of the sixth.
