Boccagno, a native of Coral Springs, Fla., finished the night 3-for-4 with the homer and two runs scored as the Eagles wrapped up their spring break trip to Florida. She leads BC with five home runs in 2019.
BC improved to 7-11 overall with the win while FIU dropped to 14-6.
Freshman pitcher Susannah Anderson (3-4) picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work with five strikeouts. Freshman reliever Camryn Dolby picked up her first career save as she got the final two outs to preserve the BC victory.
Boston College struck right away with a run in the top of the first. Lexi DiEmmanuele singled to second to start the game, advanced to second on a hit from Ellie Mataya and later scored on a RBI groundout off the bat of Emme Martinez.
In the top of the second, Boccagno led off the inning with a single through the left side and later scored the Eagles' second run on a sacrifice fly by Carlie Sanders.
FIU tied the game at two with solo home runs in the fifth and sixth innings before Boccagno's homer in the seventh sealed the 3-2 BC win.
The Eagles return to action next weekend at North Carolina (March 15-17) to open ACC play.
