MacAfee Notches Hat Trick But Women's Lacrosse Falls, 15-6, at No. 4 Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Keeley MacAfee had three goals and an assist and first-year Grace Hulslander added a goal and an assist, but Harvard women's lacrosse (4-4) fell, 15-6 to No. 4 Syracuse (9-2) at the Carrier Dome on Tuesday afternoon.

Hannah Keating and Katie Muldoon added goals for Harvard, which played its final non-conference road contest and wrapped up its two-game central New York spring break trip.

The Crimson responded to an early four-goal run for the Orange with consecutive goals at 19:31 and 18:01 of the opening half from Keating and Muldoon to make it 4-2. The Crimson stayed within striking distance behind MacAfee's free position goal with 3:05 to play, which made it 7-3.
But the Orange scored three straight goals to close out the half and pull away from the Crimson.
Harvard held Syracuse scoreless for a span of 18:32 late in the second, scoring three consecutive goals with Hulslander (16:38) and MacAfee (2:35, 1:37) providing the offense. But the Crimson could not overcome the deficit.

  • Senior captain Keeley MacAfee finished the two-game trip with a team best 12 points (eight goals, four assists).
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Grace Rotondo led Harvard with three ground balls and added seven saves.
Game Notes
  • Harvard was seeking its first win against Syracuse in program history.
  • Harvard and Syracuse were even with 11 ground balls each.
