Boise State; L, 6-0
In the first of two games on the day, Boise State quickly leaped to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second. The Broncos added to their lead with a run in the fourth followed by two more in the sixth. Throughout the contest, Harvard struggled to put runners on base, as the only two hits came from Morgan Melito at the top of the fifth with a single to right and Teagan Shaw's right side single in the seventh, but it was not enough in the end.
Loyola Marymount; L, 3-2
Beginning with a pitcher's duel for the first three innings, the Lions threatened to score in the bottom of the third with bases loaded and two outs on the board, but first-year Grace Krantz forced the batter to fly out to left field. One inning later, LMU broke through the Crimson's tough defense to have three runs cross the plate. Now with Aleissa Heiner, followed by Katie Duncan in the circle, Harvard shut down the Lions for the remainder of the game allowing the squad to answer back.
In a late minute push at the top of the sixth, Teagan Shaw singled down the right field line, allowing Erin Lockhart who reached base by a walk to cross the plate for the first Crimson run. Now trailing by two with two outs and a runner on third, Meagan Lantz duplicated Shaw for another RBI single. The small rally ended there as Harvard could not carry that momentum into the seventh and fell to the Lions, 3-2.
Harvard Highlights
- Collecting one of two hits in each contest, Teagan Shaw has now collected at least one hit in four consecutive games.
- Additionally, Shaw continues to lead the team with a .350 batting average and a .700 slugging percentage.
Opening up Ancient Eight play on the road, the Crimson prepares for the first conference weekend as the squad heads to Penn for a double header on Saturday, March 23 beginning at 12:30 p.m. The following day Harvard concludes the series with another 12:30 p.m. contest before heading back to Cambridge.
