BOSTON, Mass. – UMass Boston began their Little East Conference title defense in dominating fashion as they shutout Bridgewater State University 9-0 Saturday afternoon at the BC High Tennis Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Other than a tough third and fifth single matches, the Beacons made quick work of their first Little East opponent. In doubles play, Austin DeLasse (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Miguel Beltran (Ashland, Mass.) cruised to an 8-0 win, while Josh Bhasin (Tulsa, Okla.) and Guang Huang (Quincy, Mass.) picked-up an 8-1 win at second doubles. Onkgopotse Mokoka (Pretoria, South Africa) and Tin Tran (Quincy, Mass.) continued the Beacons winning streak with an 8-4 victory at third doubles.
In singles play DeLasse blanked the Bears' Justin Haley 6-0, 6-0. Joery Cyraque also registered a pair shutout wins, while at second singles Bhasin registered a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Mokoka netted a 6-1, 6-0 win at fourth singles to secure UMB's first conference win of 2018.
Sharma had to go to tiebreaker at third singles but ended-up earning a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory. The final win of the date belonged to Tran, who sealed the win with a 7-5, 6-2 victory at fifth singles.
