In game one, the Golden Bears (8-6, 4-0 CCC) put three runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning with a three-run home run by Jenn Luba. Cassidy Howe hit an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth to make it a 4-0 game. They held the Fighting Scots (5-12, 1-3 CCC) to four hits and forced them to leave four runners on base in the first six innings of the game. In the top of the seventh, Lily Rivera got on base with a double to right field. Sarah Ryder drove her in with a single to right field with two outs. Meredith Kercher came in to pinch run for Ryder and then Karissa Hatchell doubled to right center to score Kercher and make it a 4-2 game with two outs. Western New England then walked Megan Jenkerson and hit Kali Denty to load the bases with two outs. They forced a ground out on the next at-bat to clinch the win.
Ryder went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Hatchell batted 1-for-3 with one RBI and a double.
Caitlin Catalanotto pitched six innings and struck out two batters.
In game two, Arianna Ramsaran hit a three-run home run in the top of the first to give Gordon a 3-0 lead. Aimee Kistner cut the lead to one run with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first. Jenkerson hit her first home run of the season in the top of third to make it a 4-2 game. The Golden Bears tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the off an RBI ground out and a RBI double. In the top of the fifth, Ramsaran hit an RBI single to right center that drove in Jenkerson to give the Fighting Scots a 5-4 lead. Catlanotto singled to right center to score Amy Bogue in the top of the seventh to make it a 6-4 game. In the bottom of the seventh, Gordon recorded two outs with only one runner on base. Western New England then loaded the bases with a single by Tori Fisher and a walk by Giovanna Russo. Catlanotto walked Jen Zazzarino with the bases loaded to make it a 6-5 game. They then scored two runs on the next at-bat as Lindsay Williams singled to score Emily Cooney and Alex Desrochers scored off an error by the first basemen to seal the win.
Ramsaran batted 3-for-4 with four RBIs and one run. Jenkerson went 2-for-3 with three runs, one RBI, a double, and a walk.
Jasmine Mullally and Catalanotto combined to strike out five batters.
The Fighting Scots next host Nichols in CCC action April 7 at 1 p.m.
