WALLACE, N.C. – The Harvard women's golf team placed third at the River Landing Classic in the team's final tune up before the 2016 Ivy Championships.

Harvard (+41, 905) sat in first place following 36 holes on Saturday, but slipped back on Sunday to finish behind East Carolina (+34, 898) and Penn State (+38, 902). The Crimson started quickly at plus-3 (291) through the first round, the sixth-lowest round versus par in program history and the eighth-lowest total round score. Harvard was unable to keep its same pace through the second round and carded a plus-25 (313), but still maintained a five-stroke lead heading into Sunday.

The Crimson played solidly in the final round with a plus-13 (301), but East Carolina fired a minus-1
(287) and Penn State came in at plus-5 (293) to overtake the Crimson on the leaderboard.

Anne Cheng finished as the runner-up in the individual competition at plus-2 (218), marking the fifth-lowest 54-hole total in program history. The junior displayed consistent play all weekend, opening with a minus-1 (71) before following up at plus-1 (73) and plus-2 (74).

Anna Zhou followed in eighth place at plus-8 (224). The freshman came in at even par (72) after the first round, but struggled with a 78 (+6) in the second round on Saturday. Zhou rebounded nicely on Sunday, however, carding a 74 (+2).

Harvard's lineup also featured senior captain Christine Lin (+13, 229), Courtney Hooton (+18, 234), and Nina Fairbairn (+35, 251).

Lita Guo (+7, 223) and Michelle Xie (+13, 229) played the tournament as individuals, with Guo tying for fifth place and Xie tying for 18th.
