Wheaton Women's Lacrosse Drops to Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Wheaton College women's lacrosse team traveled to Bowdoin College on Saturday to take on the Polar Bears in a non-conference matchup. The Lyons ultimately fell, 16-3, at Howard F. Ryan Field.

The loss puts Wheaton at .500 with an 8-8 overall record while the win improves Bowdoin to .500 at 7-7.

The Polars Bears opened the first half with four unanswered goals, including two off of free position shots. The first goal came at 27:45 when Bowdoin's Emma Beecher found Mettler Growney to take the early lead. Later on in the first half, defender Mia Cambi found an opening for Wheaton when she netted a goal at 18:15 to get the Lyons on the board, collecting her first goal of the season.

Wheaton entered the second half down 12-1 as the Polar Bears found three more opportunities to score in goals and advance the lead. Ava Myette gave the Lyons their second break through when she found an opening at 8:58 to push through Wheaton's second goal. She didn't stop there as she tallied her second goal of the game, fifth of the season at 2:55. Myette was assisted by Angela Mallis.

Bowdoin held on for the win, out-shooting Wheaton 29-8 and holding a 13-7 mark in draw controls.
The Lyons are back in action on Wednesday as they host Wellesley in a conference matchup at 4 p.m. in the last regular season game.
