Strong Day 2 Propels Amherst to Second Place at the Williams Spring Invite

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Amherst College women's golf team cut five strokes from their day one score to register a two-day, 36-hole mark of 653 (329-324) to jump Middlebury College and place second overall at the Williams College Spring Invitational at the Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, Mass.

INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • In third place after day one action, Amherst cut four strokes of its 18-hole score to finish 85-over par with a score of 653 (329-324) to notch a second place finish. 
  • The Purple & White were led by Zoe Wong '18 who posted a mark of 159 (78-81) to finish 17-over par to place in a tie for third overall.
  • Jamie Gracie '17 finished seventh after cutting two strokes off her day one score to post an overall tally of 162 (82-80).
  • With a mark of 166 (87-79), Kate Weiss '19 tied for 10th overall, while Maggie Schoeller '19 logged a 12th place finish by shooting a 87 and 79 to earn a overall mark of 166.
  • Katie Rosenberg '19 (88-84) and Devyn Gardner '16 (84-88) rounded out Amherst's scorers, with each student-athlete shooting a 172 to place in a tie for 16th.
