Women's Basketball Suffers Second MAAC Loss of Year at Manhattan

MANHATTAN, NY. – The Merrimack College women's basketball fell at Manhattan, moving to 3-2 in MAAC play.

The Basics
Score: Manhattan 77, Merrimack 61
Records: Manhattan (9-6, 3-3), Merrimack (7-7, 3-2)

Rapid Recap
Early on it was all Warriors and it was headlined by sophomore forward, Madison
Roman. Roman had her fingerprints all over the game, scoring, rebounding and facilitating. Merrimack went up 13-5 before Manhattan went on a run ultimately tying it up at 18. After the first, the Warriors held a three point lead at 23-20 after Lydia Melaschenko closed it out with a rainbow corner three. In the second, Madison Roman continued her domination to the tune of a first half double-double. The teams would go into the half tied up at 35.

In the second half, Merrimack would struggle shooting the ball and Manhattan could not miss. The Jaspers took the lead and extended it to 14 points going into the final quarter. The fourth quarter saw a Dejah Jenkins masterclass as she was attacking the Jaspers defense. Manhattan would take a large lead forcing a Warrior timeout. Out of that team timeout, Merrimack applied full court pressure forcing turnovers and scoring in transition including back to back three pointers from Jenkins and Molly Manion. Unfortunately, the Manhattan lead was too much to overcome and the Warriors ended  up dropping the road game 77-61.
