Tufts Women's Tennis Blanks Trinity in NESCAC Match, 9-0

WOBURN - The 14th-ranked Tufts University women's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 NESCAC win over #32 Trinity College on Saturday in a match played indoors at the Woburn Racquet Club.

The Jumbos improved to 3-0 in the conference with the win and 7-2 overall. Trinity fell to 0-4 in NESCAC and 3-5 overall.

Tufts stormed through doubles to set the tone. The #3 pair of Tomo Iwasaki and Zoe Miller were first off with an 8-1 win, their fifth consecutive victory. Tufts' second duo - Conner Calabro with Otilia Popa - added an 8-2 win. The Jumbos swept doubles when Lauren Louks and Mina Karamercan won 8-1 on the first court.

The Jumbos would give up just 12 games in singles to earn the shutout. Iwasaki put Tufts ahead 4-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 win at #4. Calabro clinched the team win with her 6-0, 6-1 final at #3. Miller did not lose a game at #6 while Louks in the top spot (6-3, 6-1), Karamercan at #2 (6-3, 6-1), and junior Jacqueline Baum in the sixth position (6-2, 6-0) also won.

Karamercan, Iwasaki, and Miller all improved their spring singles records to 8-1 with today's
victories.

The Jumbos are home again tomorrow against #7 Middlebury starting at 9:30 am. Trinity hosts Amherst in a NESCAC Match on Tuesday.
