Babson Men's Golf Tied For Fifth After Day One at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.— Sophomore Kyle Alexander (Brewer, Maine) fired a 6-over par 78 to lead the Babson College men's golf team to a share of fifth place after the opening round of the UMass Dartmouth Hampton Inn Invitational on Friday at Allendale Country Club.

The Beavers finished with a team score of 329 on day one and will enter Saturday's final round just eight shots behind first-place Nichols. Johnson & Wales (324) is three shots back in second place, Husson (325) is third and Salem State (327) sits six shots behind in fourth place. Rhode Island College is tied with Babson in fifth position.

Alexander, who was one of just 10 players to break 80 on Friday, is tied for fourth place overall. Sophomore Pranav Mohan (Fremont, Calif.) carded an 8-over par 80 and is tied for 11th place, while first-year Grant Taleck (Naples, Fla.) shot a first-round 84.

First-year Benjamin Crawford (Houston, Texas) finished with an 87 on the 6,764-yard layout, and senior Chris Maguire (Waltham, Mass.) opened with a round of 89.

The Beavers will begin final round play at 1 p.m. today.
