MIT Men's Track and Field Competes at Sean Collier, Larry Ellis Invites

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. & PRINCETON, N.J. - The No. 20 nationally ranked MIT men's track and field team competed at both the Sean Collier Invitational, held in Cambridge, and the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton University, over the weekend. Neither meet was scored as the Engineers were looking for marks to qualify them for postseason competition, which begins next Saturday with the NEWMAC Championship.

Freshman Aidan Gilson (Florence, Mass.) got things started on the right foot for MIT at home with a first place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in personal best time of 9:43.13. His mark also is ranked the best this season in the NEWMAC. Sophomore Alex Knoedler (Canon City, Colo.) added to the top finishes with first in the 10,000-meter run in 33:16.35, more than five minutes better than the second place mark.

UMass Men's Track and Field Wraps Up Weekend at Larry Ellis Invite

PRINCETON, N.J. - University of Massachusetts men's track and field program wrapped up the final day of the Larry Ellis Invitational Saturday at Princeton University. The 4x100 meter relay team of Connor Williams, Deion Arneaud, Cory Adelson and Youssef Elkorchi claimed 11th with a time of 42.43 seconds, an IC4A-qualifying time, to highlight the day's action.

Lucey Paces Men's Track & Field at the Silfen Invitational

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Amherst College men's outdoor track & field team competed in the non-scoring Silfen Invitational Friday afternoon at Connecticut College.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS
  • Junior Steven Lucey battled to a fourth place finish in the 1500 meter run with a time of 3:57.87
  • The Purple & White had four competitors in the 5000 meter run. Leading the way for the Purple & White was senior Dan Crowley who finished second in the 21-man race with a time of 14:29.98. Sophomore Mohamed Hussein took seventh with an overall mark of 14:35.29, while teammate Craig Nelson '18 placed 12th overall (14:57.90). First-year Cosmo Brossy was the final Amherst runner to cross the finish line, placing 14th with a mark of 15:03.21.

Tufts Men's Track Senior James Traester Runs 14:48 5K in Strong Field at Silfen Invitational

NEW LONDON, CT - Members of the Tufts University men's outdoor track & field team competed in the 800 meters, 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters and 3,000-meter steeplechase on the opening day of the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College on Friday.

The top Tufts performance came in the 5,000 meters where senior James Traester ran a 14:48.84 time. He was 10th out of 21 runners in a very competitive field, including seventh among Division III racers. The time ranked 10th on the NCAA Championship qualifying list as of Friday night, which does not include the six times ahead of him from the Silfen race.

The leading Jumbo in the 800 meters on Friday was freshman Hiroto Watanabe who had a 1:58.34 for 14th place. Classmate Colin Raposo was the lead Tufts finisher in the 1,500 meters with a 3:58.36 mark that was sixth out of 17 in the race and among the national top 50 marks. Senior Nick Adams ran third in the 3,000 steeplechase with a 9:49.83 time.
