No. 20 Softball Swept by WPI

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior Kelsey Saucier (Worcester, Mass.) picked up a pair of wins as visiting WPI swept both ends of a doubleheader against 20th-ranked Babson College in New England Women's and Men's athletic Conference (NEWMAC) softball action on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. The Engineers took game one 5-1 before holding off the Beavers, 3-2, in game two.

Babson, which had its three-game winning streak snapped, falls to 12-7 overall and 3-3 in league play, while WPI improves to 17-5 overall and 7-1 in the NEWMAC.

GAME ONE: WPI 5, Babson 1
Sophomore Tori Roche (Andover, Mass.) went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and a run scored, but was one of just five Babson baserunners in game one. Senior Ali Reilly (New Canaan, Conn.) suffered the loss to drop to 7-2 on the year after giving up five runs on 10 hits while striking out five over six innings.

Senior Nina Murphy-Cook (Roseville, Calif.), junior Caraline Wood (Averill Park, N.Y.), sophomore Cassie Graca (Somerset, Mass.) and first-year Marissa Gonzales (Oakley Calif.) all finished with two hits for the Engineers. Senior Katie Chagami (Waipahu, Hawaii) doubled and drove in a pair of runs in support of Saucier, who struck out three and walked three in a complete-game effort to improve to 7-1 on the year.

WPI took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Murphy-Cook reached with a bunt single and stole second before racing home on Gonzales' single to center. The Green and White loaded the bases without the benefit of a hit, but Saucier worked out of the jam thanks to a strikeout and a fly out to keep the visitors in front.

The Beavers finally got on the board in the last of the fifth as Roche led off with a double to right, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Reilly, and then scored on a wild pitch one batter later to make it 1-1. The Engineers went back in front for good with a four-run sixth. Junior pinch hitter Kylie Juarez (Elk Grove, Calif.) plated the go-ahead run with a bases-loaded ground out, and Chagami followed by ripping a two-run double down the left field line to make it 4-1.

Saucier retired the final six batters she faced to close out the victory for WPI.

GAME TWO: WPI 3, Babson 2
Junior Ashley Tango (Reading, Mass.) went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, while sophomore Brooke Stock (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) struck out eight over seven innings for the Green and White. Stock (5-4), who also went 1-for-3 at the plate, gave up three earned runs and eight hits in the loss.

Wood was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while seniors Ama Biney (Worcester, Mass.) and RiAnna May (Westminster, Colo.) also doubled for the Engineers. First-year Kaitlyn Hess (Milford, N.H.) got a no decision after giving up two runs in four innings, while Saucier (8-1) allowed just one hit over three shutout frames to earn the win.

Babson took a 1-0 lead in the first as junior Josephine Mares (Houston, Texas), who was hit by a pitch, raced home on an RBI groundout by classmate Annie Quine (Santa Monica, Calif.). WPI answered back in the top of the second as Wood led off with a double and scored on May's two-bagger two batters later to make it 1-1.

The Engineers went on top 2-1 in the fifth as Chagami singled with two outs and Biney followed with an RBI double to the base of the wall in left center. The Beavers responded in the bottom of the frame though, as Tango led off with a double and later scored on a bases-loaded groundout when WPI first-year catcher Skylar O'Connell (North Attleboro, Mass.) pulled her foot off the plate before receiving the ball.

Babson left the bases loaded in the fifth and the Engineers made them pay in the sixth when Wood plated Gonzales with an RBI single to center for a 3-2 lead. Stock worked out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the seventh, and then singled with one out in the bottom of the frame. Saucier issued back-to-back walks to load the bases before getting a short fly out to centerfield to end the threat.

Both teams return to the diamond for doubleheader action on Tuesday as Babson hosts Clark at 3 p.m., while WPI takes on Worcester State beginning at 4 p.m.

DOUBLEHEADER NOTES
• The Beavers are now 31-35 all-time against WPI.
• Prior to Saturday, Babson had not been swept by a league opponent since dropping two at Wheaton on April 2, 2016.
• The Green and White is now 10-7 at home going back to the start of last season.

Babson College Women's Tennis Overpowers Smith, 9-0

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.— Babson College dropped just two total games in doubles and won all six singles matches in straight sets en route to a 9-0 win over Smith College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's tennis action on Tuesday afternoon.

With the win, Babson improves to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in league play, while Smith drops to 1-9 overall and 0-3 in the NEWMAC with its seventh consecutive loss.

The Beavers cruised through doubles as senior Jenny Quenard (St.-Legier, Switzerland) and first-year Alexa Tutecky (North York, Ontario) won 8-2 at number one, while the duo of senior Kylie Kam (Honolulu, Hawaii) and first-year Carolina Merz (Santa Tecla, El Salvador) recorded an 8-0 victory at number two. Senior Claire Foster (Orange, Conn.) and sophomore Emily Roeper (Belle Mead, N.J.) also were 8-0 winners at number three for the Green and White.

Babson dominated singles play, beginning with Tutecky's 6-1, 6-0 triumph at number one. Merz was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at number two, Foster posted a 6-0, 6-0 result at number three, and Kam breezed to a 6-0, 6-1 decision at number four.

Roeper and junior Alexandra Blizard (Dover, Mass.) both won 6-0, 6-0 at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.

MATCH NOTES
• The Beavers have won 15 of their last 18 matches against Smith and the all-time series is now even at 15-15.
• Babson has not dropped a doubles match in seven consecutive meetings against Smith going back to 2011.
• Blizard has now won four straight matches at number six singles, while Tutecky and Quenard improved to 3-0 at number one doubles.

Babson Women's Lacrosse Rallies Late to Stun Springfield, 11-10

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—First-year Juliana McGuire (Sparta, N.J.) scored five times and visiting Babson College scored four unanswered goals over the final 7:54 to rally past Springfield College, 11-10, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Stagg Field.

Babson, which has won two straight games, improves to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in league play, while Springfield slips to 5-5 overall and 1-1 in the NEWMAC.

Senior Julia Harrigan (Portsmouth, R.I.), who led all players with eight draw controls, and first-year Georgia Salvatore (Westwood, Mass.) both scored twice for the Beavers. Classmate Sara O'Connor (Marshfield, Mass.) picked up two ground balls and first-year goalkeeper Cricket Fligor (Weston, Mass.) made a career-high 11 saves in the win.

Senior Kristen Steidler (Somers, Conn.) and junior Amanda Nusbaum (Conway, N.H.) both scored three goals for the Pride, while senior Ann Mahoney (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and junior Andie Stone (Burlington, Conn.) combined for 11 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. Sophomore goalkeeper Brenna Keefe (Acton, Mass.) stopped five shots in a losing effort.

Steidler scored back-to-back goals to give Springfield a 2-0 lead 10:30 into the contest, and Nusbaum buried a free-position chance with 4:33 to go in the period to keep the hosts in front 5-2 after 30 minutes. Senior Shelby Corsano (Bourne, Mass.) scored 1:31 into the second half to give the Pride its biggest lead of the game, but Harringan struck back with consecutive tallies to pull Babson back within 6-4 with 25:24 remaining in the contest.

Prior to the late rally, the Beavers cut their deficit to two on four occasions over the next 15 minutes only to see Springfield respond with a marker, including Nusbaum's final tally to make it 10-7 with 10:18 to play. Fligor denied Nusbaum on a free-position chance with 8:32 left and McGuire followed with back-to-back goals to make it 10-9 with 5:27 to go.

The Pride turned the ball over on its next two possessions leading to Salvatore's free-position goal to tie the game with 3:30 left. O'Connor won the ensuing draw control and McGuire buried another free-position shot to give Babson its first lead of the game with 2:06 remaining.

The Beavers lost the draw but forced a turnover as Springfield was unable to get off a potential game-tying shot.

The Green and White held a 9-5 edge in second-half draw controls and were a perfect 8-for-8 on clearing opportunities over the final 30 minutes. The Beavers also connected on all five of their free-position shots after halftime.

Pitching Dominates as No. 19 Softball Splits Doubleheader at MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—Sophomore Brooke Stock (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) allowed just one run in a complete-game effort and scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the third inning to help 19th-ranked Babson College earn a split of Friday's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) softball doubleheader at Briggs Field. The Beavers won game two 3-1 after suffering a 3-0 loss to the Engineers in the opener.

Babson, which has won eight of its last 10 games, is now 10-5 overall and 1-1 in league play, while MIT is 9-4-1 overall and 3-1 in the NEWMAC.

GAME ONE: MIT 3, Babson 0
Sophomore Tori Roche (Andover, Mass.) had a double and junior Josephine Mares (Houston, Texas) was 1-for-2 with a walk as the Beavers were shutout for the second time this season in game one. Senior Ali Reilly (New Canaan, Conn.) suffered her first loss of the year after giving up three earned runs on seven hits while striking out five and walking five in a complete-game effort.

Junior Ravenne Nasser (Methuen, Mass.) was superb for the hosts allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out five to record her first shutout of the year. Senior Amanda Lee (Saratoga, Calif.) went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI, and sophomore Sarah Von Ahn (West Linn, Ore.) added two hits and one RBI to pace the Engineers' offense.

MIT took the lead in the top of the first as sophomore Devon Goetz (Rockville, Md.) walked with one out and moved to second on a single by Lee before racing home to score on Von Ahn's base hit to right field. The Engineers loaded the bases with no outs in the fourth but were unable to extend their lead as Reilly (6-1) got a groundout, an infield pop-up and a strikeout to work out of the jam.

The Beavers stranded senior Samantha Smith (Hillsborough, N.J.) following a leadoff single in the bottom of the fourth and hit into a double play to end the fifth after first-year Jamie Hoffman (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) singled with one out. MIT tacked on a pair of insurance runs when Lee smacked a double down the left field line with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh to make it 3-0.

GAME TWO: Babson 3, MIT 1
Junior Alex Corrigan (Middletown, N.J.) went 2-for-2 with an RBI and six different players recorded a hit in support of Stock, who improved to 4-3 after striking out four and giving up just five hits for the Green and White. Mares and sophomore Kayla Schinik (Watchung, N.J.) both singled and drove in a run, while junior Ashley Tango (Reading, Mass.) doubled and scored in the victory.

First-year Colleen Campbell (Snoqualmie, Wash.) fell to 3-1 on the year after giving up two runs and failing to record an out in the third inning. Goetz doubled and scored in the top of the first for MIT.

After being blanked over the first nine innings of the day, the Babson offense came alive in the third. Tango led off with a double and stole third, Stock followed with a walk and Corrigan came through with an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1. Schinik drove in Stock with a base hit up the middle two batters later to give the Beavers their first lead of the day.

The Green and White left a pair of runners in scoring position in the fourth, but were able to tack on another insurance run in the fifth as Corrigan led off with a single and scored one batter later on a triple by Mares to left that nearly turned into an inside-the-park home run before she was gunned down at the plate thanks to a perfect relay.

Stock retired nine straight batters between the first and fourth innings and allowed just one base runner past second after the opening frame.

Babson Baseball Extends Winning Streak to Five with Sweep of Coast Guard

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College hit four home runs and pounded out 26 hits, including 11 for extra bases, on its way to sweeping the Coast Guard Academy in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) baseball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Govoni Field. The Beavers defeated the Bears, 5-1, in the opener and rolled to a 19-2 victory in game two.

Babson, which has won five straight games, is now 12-7 overall and 3-2 in league play, while Coast Guard slips to 6-8 overall and 0-5 in the NEWMAC.

GAME ONE: Babson 5, Coast Guard 1
Sophomore Sean Harrington (Walpole, Mass.) was 2-for-3 with a homer and five RBI, while junior Connor Gill (Sterling, Mass.) allowed just one run over seven innings in the Beavers' game one win. Senior David Lennon (Windermere, Fla.) and sophomore Matthew Valente (Wyckoff, N.J.) both had two hits in support of Gill (2-1), who struck out two and walked two in addition to allowing just three hits.

Senior Alex Murdoch (San Ramon, Calif.) and junior Luke Thompson (San Ramon, Calif.) both had two hits for the Bears. Sophomore Brett Sullivan (Granby, Mass.) shouldered the loss to fall to 2-2 after giving up three runs on five hits to go along with six strikeouts in 7.0 innings.

Coast Guard jumped on top 1-0 in the top of the first as Thompson led off with a double to right center and Stephens drove him in with a single to left two batters later. Babson had two just base runners over the first three innings, but took the lead for good in the fourth. Lennon started the frame with, senior Mark Webber (Norwell, Mass.) doubled to left center and Harrington followed with a three-run blast to straight away center field for a 3-1 advantage.

Gill did not allow a hit over his final five innings of work and junior Max Tannenbaum (Coral Springs, Fla.) worked around a one-out single in the top of the eighth before the Green and White tacked on a pair of insurances runs in the bottom of the frame. Lennon led off with a double, senior Ryan Arena (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) reached on a fielder's choice and both came home on a one-out single by Harrington.

Senior Matt Cuneo (Ashland, Mass.) got two quick outs in the ninth and was able to work around a single and an error to close out the victory.

GAME TWO: Babson 19, Coast Guard 2
Arena went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run five RBI and four runs scored as the Beavers routed Coast Guard in game two. Junior Brian McHale (Ramsey, N.J.) and sophomore Jake Oliger (Newtown, Conn.) both homered, while junior Eric Jaun (Loveland, Ohio) had two hits and drove in three runs as part of a 16-hit attack.

Senior John Floegel (Summit, N.J.) and three relievers combined to strikeout 10 while limiting the Bears to just four hits. Floegel (1-2) picked up his first win of the year after giving up two runs on three hits in six innings of work.

Junior Reed Jenkins (Brown Summitt, N.C.) was 2-for-4 and Murdoch drove in a run for Coast Guard. Classmate Dustin Reeder (Lincoln, Del.) started and fell to 0-3 on the year after being tagged for eight earned runs on six hits and four walks in 3.1 innings.

McHale and Lennon drew back-to-back walks to start the bottom of the first and Arena launched his fourth home run of the season over the right field fence for a 3-0 lead. Coast Guard loaded the bases with no outs in the second but scored just one run as Floegel recorded a strikeout and got two straight ground outs to end the threat.

Harrington drove in Arena with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-1 in the third and Babson put up six runs in a fourth inning that included an RBI double from Lennon and a two-run double from Arena to extend the margin to 10-1. McHale hit a two-run bomb to right center in the fifth and Jaun cleared the bases with a one-out double to center in the sixth as part of a four-run frame.

Oliger delivered the final blow when he cranked a three-run homer, his second of the year, to right center with two outs in the seventh.

Babson returns to action on Monday when it hosts Plymouth State at 3:30 p.m., while Coast Guard travels to Emerson on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

DOUBLEHEADER NOTES
• The Beavers are 59-22 all-time against Coast Guard and have won six in a row against the Bears.
• Babson has won 12 straight games at home and is 29-10 at Govoni Field since the start of the 2016 campaign.

No. 14 Softball Tripped Up by Juniata in Florida Finale, 6-1

CLERMONT, Fla.—Juniata College scored five times with two outs and limited 14th-ranked Babson College to just five hits in a 6-1 victory in non-conference softball action at Legends Way Park on Tuesday morning.

With the loss, Babson saw its-five game winning streak come to an end and is now 7-4 on the year. The Beavers took a 7-0 lead into the bottom of the third inning in their second game of the day against Hope College before it was halted due and later cancelled due to weather. Juniata, which has won three straight games, is now 3-2 overall.

Sophomore Victoria Casey (Emerson, N.J.) finished with two hits, junior Annie Quine (Santa Monica, Calif.) tripled and sophomores Tori Roche (Andover, Mass.) and Brooke Stock (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) both singled for the Beavers. Stock (2-3) and sophomore Katie Gademsky (Hillsborough, N.J.) both allowed three runs on five hits while combining for five strikeouts.

Sophomore Molly Ulrich (Homer, N.Y.) and senior Alicia Regnault (Bridgewater, N.J.) both doubled and drove in a pair of runs to lead the Eagles' 10-hit attack. Sophomore Alyssa Shedlock (State College, Pa.) and senior Kerigan Ammerman (Alexandria, Pa.) were both 2-for-4 with a double apiece in support of first-year Erin Pfeffer (Camp Hill, Pa.), who gave up just one run on five hits while fanning two in a complete-game effort to improve to 2-1.

The Green and White erased a 1-0 deficit in the bottom of the third as Casey singled to left and moved to third on a wild pitch and a ground out before racing home on another wild pitch to pull even. Juniata went back in front in the fourth though, as Ulrich drew a two-out walk and Regnault and senior Brooke Ridenour (Thurmont, Md.) followed with back-to-back RBI doubles to make it 3-1.

The Eagles put together another two-out rally in the fifth with three straight singles and a two-out, two-run double to left by Ulrich to extend their advantage to 6-1. Pefeffer, who allowed just a pair of singles over the final four innings, retired the final eight batters she faced to close out the victory.

Babson returns to action on Sunday when it is scheduled to host Clark in a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.

GAME NOTES
• The Beavers are now 0-1 all-time against Juniata.
• Babson's five hits matched its lowest output of the season.
• By winning four of their five games this week, the Beavers improve to 28-15 in the state of Florida going back to 2015.

Babson Women's Volleyball Takes Down WPI, 3-0

WORCESTER, Mass.—Sophomore Gizem Yilmaz (Istanbul, Turkey) finished with six kills, six service aces, seven digs and a career-high nine blocks to help visiting Babson College sweep WPI, 25-19, 25-18, 25-11, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's volleyball action on Tuesday night at Harrington Auditorium.

With the win, Babson is now 9-7 overall and 5-2 in conference play, while WPI slips to 14-4 overall and 3-3 in the NEWMAC.

Sophomore Shannon Roseen (Malden, Mass.) hit .381 and led all players with 10 kills, while

Fast Start Helps No. 8 Field Hockey Knock Off No. 20 Wellesley, 4-1

WELLESLEY, Mass.—Junior Elise Towers (Cicero, N.Y.) scored once in each half to help eighth-ranked Babson College defeat 20th-ranked Wellesley College, 4-1, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) field hockey action on Tuesday afternoon.

With its sixth consecutive win, Babson is now 11-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play, while Wellesley has dropped three straight games to fall to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in the NEWMAC.

Senior Staci Swallow (South Portland, Mass.) and sophomore Ashley Tango (Reading, Mass.) each scored once for the Beavers, who got assists from senior Victoria Spofford (Merrimac, Mass.) and junior Jacki Merrigan (Canton, Mass.). First-year Deirdre Barry (Longmeadow, Mass.) finished with one save in the win.

Senior Nikki Sharkin (Summit, N.J.) converted a feed from classmate Courtney Peterson (Glastonbury, Conn.) late in the second half for the Blue's lone goal. Sophomore Maggie Connelly (Duxbury, Mass.) made five first-half saves, while sophomore Lucy Hurlock (Needham, Mass.) turned away four shots in the second half for the hosts.

The Green and White dominated a first half that saw it outshoot Wellesley 10-0 and score three times in the opening 18 minutes to take control of the match. Tango notched her 12th goal of the year just 2:58 into the contest off a penalty corner and Towers scored the first of her two markers off a feed from Spofford to make it 2-0 at the 7:22 mark.

Swallow notched her sixth tally of the year for a three-goal lead in the 18th minute and the Beavers narrowly missed a chance to push their lead to four two minutes later when Towers' shot was cleared off the line by Blue junior Fallon Oeser (Brookfield, Conn.).

Towers would score her league-leading 14th goal of the year with 19:56 to go in the game before Sharkin broke up Babson's shutout bid with her fourth tally of the year at the 62:44 mark.

The Beavers finished with a 15-3 edge in shots and a 6-2 advantage in penalty corners.

Both teams return to action on Saturday as Babson travels to Smith at 12 p.m., while Wellesley visits WPI for a 10 a.m. start.

GAME NOTES
•    The Beavers are now 14-28-2 all-time against the Blue and have won two straight in the series against Wellesley.
•    Despite falling just over seven minutes short of a school-record sixth consecutive shutout, Babson set a new program record of 419:33 between goals going back to its September 13 loss against Tufts.
•    With two more goals, Towers extended her points streak to 12 games and has at least one tally in 11 matches this fall.
•    Babson has scored three or more goals in nine of its 11 wins had has won 25 straight games when putting up at least three markers.

Babson Women's Soccer Falls to No. 9/9 Brandeis, 1-0, in OT

BABSON PARK, Mass.— Senior Cidney Moscovitch (Coral Springs, Fla.) scored 5:41 into overtime to lift ninth-ranked Brandeis University to a 1-0 victory over Babson College in non-conference women's soccer action on Tuesday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field.

Babson, which saw its four-game unbeaten streak come to an end, is now 3-2-2 on the year, while Brandeis improves to 8-0-0.

Following a corner kick, senior Jessica Morana (Shrewsbury, Mass.) had her shot from the edge of the six-yard box deflected and momentarily cleared out of danger. The Judges regained possession though, and sent in another cross that Morana headed to her left for Moscovitch, who slotted her shot past a pair of defenders on the goal line for the winner.

Sophomore Elizabeth Mycock (Windham, Maine) played the final 51 minutes and made two saves for Babson, while her counterpart, senior Alexis Grossman (Syosset, N.Y.) of Brandeis, also turned away two shots.

The Judges had the best scoring chance for either side in the first half only to see senior Lea McDaniel's (Phoenix, Ariz.) shot through traffic following a corner kick cleared off the line by a Beavers' defender in the 29th minute. McDaniel also missed wide of the left post following a Babson giveaway in the 63rd minute and Mycock made a diving save at the left post to deny Judges' junior Samantha Schwartz (Highland Park, Ill.) in the 76th minute.

Babson sophomore Kathryn Clark (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) missed just wide after taking a long thru ball from junior Kelsey Ford (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) in the 58th minute. The Green and White also saw senior Olivia Kerester (Chappaqua, N.Y.) send a shot wide of the left post less than a minute into extra time.

Brandeis finished with an 11-6 edge in shots and attempted six of the game's seven corner kicks.

Both teams return to action on Saturday as Babson visits Smith at 3 p.m., while Brandeis travels to Tufts at 1 p.m.

GAME NOTES
•    The Beavers are now 17-21-3 all-time against Brandeis.
•    The Judges are unbeaten in 31 straight games (28-0-3) against teams from New England going back to the start of the 2014 season.
•    Tuesday's loss snapped Babson's 13-game home unbeaten streak.
•    Tuesday's loss also marked just the third time in the last 40 games that the Beavers were defeated when conceding one goal or less.

Babson Offense Powers Softball To Split With Tufts

MEDFORD, Mass.—Visiting Babson College sent 11 batters to the plate and exploded for seven runs in the top of the sixth inning to rally for a 9-6 victory over Tufts University in the opening game of a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. The Jumbos rebounded to take game two with an 11-2, five-inning win.

Vu Reaches 100 Wins as Babson Men's Tennis Blanks Wheaton, 9-0, In Regular-Season Finale

NORTON, Mass.— Senior Victor Vu (Los Angeles, Calif.) earned the 100th win of his career with a hard-fought victory at number one doubles alongside classmate Saif Rahim (Hong Kong) to help visiting Babson College defeat Wheaton College, 9-0, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's tennis action on Wednesday afternoon.

With its seventh win over the last nine matches, Babson concludes the regular season at 10-8 overall and 5-1 in league play. Wheaton, which has dropped two of its last three matches, falls to 7-9 overall and 2-4 in the NEWMAC.

Following Vu and Rahim's 9-7 victory at number one, the Beavers breezed through their next two matches for a 3-0 lead. Senior Roberto Perez (Pozuelo de Alarcon, Spain) and first-year Brandon Rosenbluth (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) won 8-0 at number two, while junior Dom Wysolmerski (Rutland, Vt.) and first-year Ho Wang Alastair Ng (Hong Kong) recorded an 8-5 result at number three.

Perez cruised to 6-0, 6-0 victory at number one singles, while senior Isaac Thylen (Surfside, Fla.) was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at number two. Rosenbluth dropped the opening set before rallying for a 6-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-3) triumph at number three, and Ng posted a 6-3, 6-4 result at number four.

First-year Dan Meister (Nyon, Switzerland) won 6-0, 6-2 at number five, while classmate Stuart Toda (Mercer Island, Wash.) posted a 6-4, 7-6 victory in his conference debut at number six.

Babson, which earned the second seed in the upcoming NEWMAC Tournament, will take on third-seeded Coast Guard on Saturday, May 7, in a conference semifinal at 3 p.m. at MIT.
