Tufts Women's Sailing Places 3rd at NEISA Team Race Hosted by Yale

BRANFORD, CT - The Tufts women's sailing team resumed its 2015-16 season at a New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association Team Racing event hosted by Yale on Saturday and Sunday. The Jumbos were third out of five teams.

Tufts had a 9-6 record at the regatta. Yale won with a 13-2 mark, Bowdoin was second at 11-4, while Connecticut College and Brown were fourth and fifth, respectively.

Five rounds and a final four were contested. The Jumbos went 2-1 in the first round with wins over Brown and Connecticut College. After losing two out of three in the second and third rounds, the Jumbos went 3-0 in the fifth round with victories against Bowdoin, Brown and Connecticut College.
The Jumbos' 7-5 record qualified them as one of the final four. There they won two out of three races with victories over Bowdoin and Connecticut College and a loss to Yale.

Sailing for Tufts in three dinghies were junior skipper MaryClaire Kiernan with senior crew Amanda Sommi, junior skipper Kate Shaner with junior crew Julia Fuller, and sophomore skipper Molly Pleskus with freshman crew Sabrina van Mell.
