INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
- Amherst tied for third-place, with Hamilton, in the 10-team field. Middlebury won the qualifier with a team score of 605 (300-305) followed by Trinity in second with a mark of 617 (314-303). The top four teams advance to the championship, which is scheduled for Saturday-Sunday, April 30-May 1, 2016.
- The Purple & White were led by first-year Jack Burlison who cut eight strokes off his day one round to finish with a 152 (80-72). Burlison finished 10-over par to place in a tie for third overall.
- Dan Langa '18 and Liam Fine '17 finished in a tie for 14th and 19th, respectively. Langa shot a 158 (78-80), while Fine carded a 160 (76-84).
- Rounding out Amherst's scorers were Sam Proctor '18 and James Line '17. Proctor had a consistent weekend and finished with a 162 (82-80). Line cut 10 strokes off his day one round and carded a 170 (90-80).
- The Purple & White qualifed for the NESCAC Championship for the second time in three years, having missed the tournament a year ago.
- Amherst ranks second in the conference with eight league titles. Williams leads all schools with 11. However, the Purple & White have not won a Championship since the 1996-97 season.
Amherst returns to action next Saturday, Oct. 10 for the two-day, 36-hole ECAC Championship at The Ranch Golf Club in Southwick, Mass.
