Men's Cross Country Finishes 6th at CCRI Invite

FLANAGAN, R.I. – The Wheaton College men's cross country team competed at the Community College of Rhode Island TriState Invitational on Saturday afternoon, finishing in sixth place out of 12 teams.

Wentworth won the race with 36 points, while Bridgwater State took second (76) and Roger Williams finished third (79).

Patrick Hopkins of Wentworth was the top individual finisher with a time of 27:02.39, while Dan McSolla of Wentworth finished second (27:12.60) and Adam Sachs of Johnson & Wales (27:18.06) took third.

Alexei Spinu was the Lyons top finisher, concluding the race in 28:38.90, which earned him 13th place. Josh Alabre finished right behind Spinu in 28:43.31 (14th place) and Bill Funk took 15th place with a time of 28:48.00.

Conner Bourgoin turned in a time of 30:24.25 (43rd), while Eric Kogan finished in 32:01.86 (55th). Braden Marstaller rounded out the field for Wheaton with a time of 32:31.04 (64th).

The Lyons return to action on Oct. 17 at the Connecticut College Invitational at Harkness Memorial Park in Waterford, Conn. The meet is set to begin at noon.
