BOSTON—The Babson College women's tennis swept the
New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) weekly awards
on Monday as sophomores Yagmur Akgul (Istanbul, Turkey) and Jenny Quenard
(St.-Legier, Switzerland) were selected as the league's doubles team of
the week, while Akgul was also tabbed as the conference's singles
player of the week.
Akgul and Quenard cruised to an 8-3 win over Justine Huang and Emily
Olson of Wellesley at number one doubles as part of the Beavers' 7-2
victory on Saturday afternoon. The duo is now 4-1 overall this season,
which includes a 2-0 mark against NEWMAC foes.
Akgul was selected as the league's singles player of the week for the
third time this fall and for the second week in a row after cruising to
a 6-0, 6-4 win over Andjela Stojkovic at number one singles. She is now
8-2 overall and 4-1 in league play on the year.
Babson (7-1, 4-1 NEWMAC) returns to action today when it hosts Wheaton at 3:30 p.m.
