MEDFORD – Tufts University junior Katelin Isakoff has been selected as the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women's Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week.
Isakoff played an active role in Tufts winning the seven-team MIT Winter Invitational over the weekend. She swam in 11 races over the course of five sessions (preliminaries and finals).
On Friday Isakoff swam the lead leg of the 800 freestyle relay that won with a 7:27.76 mark, which is an NCAA B cut. Her 1:50.91 200 freestyle leading off the 800 free relay was a lifetime best and also an NCAA B cut.
Isakoff was runner-up in the 200 butterfly with a 2:03.57 time that was also a lifetime best and NCAA B cut. She swam to another second-place finish in the 500 freestyle with another lifetime best and NCAA B mark (4:58.12). In the 100 freestyle on Sunday she posted another second at the meet with a lifetime best of 52.17 seconds.
In the 400 freestyle relay that finished the meet, Isakoff swam the second leg as the Jumbos won with a NCAA B cut of 3:27.16. She was also a part of Tufts' 400 medley relay that was fourth at the meet, and the 200 freestyle relay that placed sixth.
Considering the canceled 2020-21 season, this is Tufts' first NESCAC weekly honor since Abby Claus was recognized on December 9, 2019. The recognition is the first for Isakoff.
