Endicott College Cheerleading Program Finishes Seventh In The Nation At NCA Collegiate Championship

2018 NCA COLLEGIATE CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Endicott cheerleading program placed seventh overall in the D3 III All-Girl division at the 2018 NCA Collegiate Championship on Friday night.

Endicott scored an 89.48 in their final round of competition, which was nearly two points better than their performance in the Challenge Cup. The Gulls advanced to finals of the D3 III All-Girl division by winning the Challenge Cup over teams such as Stevenson University, Oswego State, Rochester Institute of Technology, Eastern Connecticut State and Ithaca.

It marks the first time in program history Endicott has won the Challenge Cup at the NCA Collegiate Championship. Endicott's seventh place performance this season also marks a three-place improvement from last year's 10th place finish at the 2017 NCA Collegiate Championship (86.95 score).

Gulls Down Hawks, 14-9

BRISTOL, R.I. - The Endicott women's lacrosse team traveled to Roger Williams on Wednesday afternoon and came away with a 14-9 victory. 

Endicott got on the board first with a goal from Meghan Dutchyshyn (Cheshire, Conn.) before the Hawks tied it up at 1-1. The Gulls then scored four goals before Roger Williams answered back with five of its own to take a slim one-goal lead. Endicott, however, came back to take a 7-6 lead at the half. 

Both teams continued to battle in the second half but the Gulls were able to hold Roger Williams to just three goals while adding seven tallies of their own to secure the 14-9 win. 

Alex Fitzgerald (Guilford, Conn.) led the Gulls with four goals and two assists. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• Bella Rino (Northborough, Mass.) got the start in net and improved to 7-2 on the season. She recorded 12 saves during the game. 
• Ali Campbell (Lakeville, Mass.) and Dutchyshyn both added three goals, while Jackie Healy (Northborough, Mass.) had two tallies and Jennifer Lacroix (Wrentham, Mass.) and Erin McCarthy (Old Lyme, Conn.) each scored once.
• Gabriella Prisco (West Haven, Conn.) compiled a team-high nine draw controls.
• Leading the Gulls in caused turnovers was Olivia Larson (Cheshire, Conn.) with three.
• Endicott held a slight 26-25 shot advantage.

FOR THE FOES

• Lydia Nelson (Center Moriches, N.Y.) made seven saves and shifted to 7-3 on the season. 
• Devon Sarazin (Falmouth, Maine) and Kaelin Hogan (Bethel, Conn.) each tallied three goals. Carly Martin (Scituate, Mass.) added two goals, while Shayne Rivard (Easton, Conn.) had one.
• Emily Stoeppel (Brookfield, Conn.) contributed four ground balls and four draw controls. 
• Stoeppel and Paige Byrne (Clifton Park, N.Y.) each had a team-high three caused turnovers.

No. 7 Jumbos Defeat Gulls, 17-7

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott women's lacrosse team was handed a 17-7 loss by No. 7 Tufts on Thursday evening at Hempstead Stadium. 

The Jumbos scored five goals before the Gulls were able to find the back of the net on a tally from Allie Lawlor (York, Maine) with just over ten minutes remaining in the half. Tufts would increase its lead to 10-3 by halftime. 

Tufts continued to pressure offensively but Endicott would not go down without a fight, scoring four goals throughout the second half. Ultimately, the Jumbos were able to secure the 17-7 victory. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• Alexandra Rose (East Lyme, Conn.) got the start in net and made 19 saves to shift to 0-1 on the season.
• Jennifer Lacroix (Wrentham, Mass.) and Lawlor led the team with two goals each. Also scoring for the Gulls were Erin McCarthy (Old Lyme, Conn.), Jackie Healy (Northborough, Mass.), and Alex Fitzgerald (Guilford, Conn.).
• Fitzgerald, Healy, Megan Jarvis (Auburn, N.H.), and Meghan Dutchyshyn(Cheshire, Conn.) all earned assists throughout the night. 
• Gabriella Prisco (West Haven, Conn.) led the team in draw controls with eight and ground balls with four. 

FOR THE FOES

• Audrey Evers (San Francisco, Calif.) earned the win in net with two saves and improved to 6-1 on the season. Kelly Melin (Hinsdale, Ill.) saw 16 minutes of action at the end of the contest and recorded one save.
• Annie Sullivan (Barrington, R.I.), Dakota Adamec (Katonah, N.Y.), and Maria Dattolo (Palm Beach, Fla.) each scored three goals. Caroline Nowak (Glenview, Ill.), Maddie Norman (Glastonbury, Conn.), Catherine Lawliss (Portland, Ore.), Cecily Freliech (Wilton, Conn.), Kirsten Grazewski (Wayland, Mass.), Johanna O'Neil (Concord, Mass.), and Emily Games (Wayne, Pa.) all notched one goal.
• Adamec led the team in draw controls with seven. 
• Hedy Veith (Alexandria, Va.), Margaret Chase (Providence, R.I.), and Norman each had a team-high two caused turnovers. 
• The Jumbos held a 44-16 shot advantage and went 18-for-19 on clear attempts.

Endicott (6-3, 2-0 CCC) will travel to Roger Williams on Wednesday, April 4 for a 4 p.m. contest. Tufts (6-1, 3-0 NESCAC) travels to Connecticut College at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 31.

No. 23 Endicott Tops Suffolk, 3-2; Bryant Becomes Gulls’ All-Times Leader

BEVERLY, Mass. — Junior closer Will Bryant (Cumberland, Maine) became the Gulls' all-time saves leader on Monday evening as No. 23 nationally ranked Endicott defeated Suffolk University, 3-2, at North Field.

Will Ferreira (Nantucket, Mass.) earned the win in relief on three innings of work, one hit, no runs, two walks and a pair of strikeouts, while Bryant closed out the ninth for his fifth save this season and program record 12th of his career. 

Bryant's record-breaking save did not come without drama, however, as the junior closer received some stellar defense in the frame to keep Suffolk from tying the game. With a runner on third and one out, Endicott third baseman Jacob Thibault (Methuen, Mass.) gunned down the would-be tying run at the plate after he backhanded a low groundball off the bat of Steven Shamnoski (Pittstown, Pa.) and fired a strike to Gulls' catcher Brendan McDonald (Quincy, Mass.) who then blocked the plate perfectly and applied a clean tag on Nik San Antonio (Cranston, R.I.) for the second out of the inning.

Colin Bannon Signed By Ohio Machine Of Major League Lacrosse

OHIO MACHINE RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Former Endicott attackman/midfielder Colin Bannon '17 (Westport, Conn.) has signed a free agent contract with the Ohio Machine of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) for the 2018 season. Bannon is now the seventh student-athlete in program history to either be drafted or signed by an MLL team.

Bannon was picked up via the MLL Player Pool on Monday, March 20 after participating in last weekend's open tryouts that were co-hosted by the Ohio Machine and the Florida Launch on the campus of Bryn Athyn College in Pennsylvania.

In four seasons with the Gulls, Bannon compiled 292 points on 155 goals (12 up, 3 down) and 138 assists in 74 career games. Bannon also collected 145 ground balls and had 37 caused turnovers during that span.

Meanwhile, from a historical standpoint, Bannon finished his career as the program's second all-time leading scorer (tied w/ Rick Riccio), in addition to ranking sixth all-time in goals, and second in assists.

Bannon's 91 points in 2016 ranks sixth all-time in a single season, while his 54 assists in 2016 is positioned fifth on the all-time list. Bannon's single-game career-highs include nine points (vs. three different opponents), six goals (Western New England, 4/15/14), and six assists (vs. two different opponents).

Nichols' Second Half Surge Drops Gulls, 2-1

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Endicott men's soccer team fell to host Nichols College, 2-1, Monday afternoon in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) road contest at Vendetti Field.

Freshman forward Emmanuel Kollie (Boston, Mass.) netted his first career goal in the 36th minute (unassisted) to give the Gulls a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

Endicott Women’s Tennis Stymies Curry, 9-0

MILTON, Mass. – The Endicott women's tennis team shut out its third straight opponent on Tuesday evening as the Gulls defeated Curry College, 9-0, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup on the road.

Endicott only dropped one game in singles action, and just five total in the entire match to move its overall record to 5-3 overall/4-1 CCC. Sophomore Hayley Barnett (Marlboro, N.J.) highlighted play for the Gulls with victories in both her singles (No. 1, 6-0, 6-0) and doubles (No. 2, 8-3) matches.

Suffolk Shuts Down Endicott 8-2 under North Field Lights

BEVERLY, Mass. – In a matchup between two NEIBA regionally-ranked teams for the second time this season, the Suffolk Rams (28-9) jumped out early scoring four runs over the first three innings en route to defeating Endicott (21-12) 8-2 under the lights of North Field Wednesday evening.

The Gulls saw a strong long-relief appearance from junior righty Eric Nagle (Manchester, Conn.) but were countered by an even better starting performance by Suffolk junior Chuck Gibson (Malden, Mass.). Gibson (4-1) spun his third complete game of the season and allowed two earned runs on seven hits while striking out six in the Rams victory.

Nagle, in the longest outing of his career, came on in the top of the fourth with Endicott in a 4-0 hole

Endicott College Women's Tennis Falls to No. 30 Brandeis in Final Spring Tune Up

WALTHAM, Mass. – In their final spring tune up before taking on the field at the 2016 NCAA Division III Tournament, the Endicott women's tennis team lost 9-0 to the ITA's No. 30 ranked Brandeis Judges on the road. The Gulls enter their fifth consecutive national tournament, which begins the first week of May, with a 14-4 overall record.

In doubles play, Brandeis' top flight team of sophomore Haley Cohen (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and freshman Michele Lehat (Great Neck, N.Y.) only gave up a single game in an 8-1 win while the number two duo of freshmen Sophia He (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and senior Emily Eska (Princeton, Mass.) shutdown their Gull opposition.

At the number three doubles match, Endicott took a couple of games behind the strong play of
