Regis Women’s Soccer Earns GNAC Road Victory, 5-2

NEW LONDON, N.H. – Miya Nishibun (Honolulu, Hawaii) earned her second hat trick of the year to lead Regis College to a 5-2 victory over Colby-Sawyer College Wednesday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's collegiate soccer match at Kelsey Field.

The Pride jumped on the board 1:09 into the

match as Alex Maher (Reading, Mass.) set up Nishibun for her fourth goal of the season. Regis continued to pressure the Charger defense and nearly added to its lead in the fifth minute, but a shot by Payton Bridge (Norton, Mass.) hit the crossbar.

In the 12^th minute, Regis increased its lead to 2-0 on Hailey Lovell's (Wakefield, Mass.) second goal of the season. The Pride maintained the majority of the possession throughout the first half and would eventually pick up another goal late in the half when Kerri Urquhart (Burlington, Mass.) sent forward a long ball that eluded Charger goalie Alexis LeBreton and bounced into the net.

Colby-Sawyer (1-4, 1-2 GNAC) broke through two-and-a-half minutes into the second half when Bridget O'Connell converted on a scoring opportunity with a shot into the lower left portion of the net. However, the Pride reestablished their three-goal advantage in the 63^rd minute as Sam Perkins (Whitman, Mass.) assisted on Nishibun's second goal of the match.

Nishibun would complete her hat trick by picking up her third goal of the afternoon on a penalty kick after Maria Toumbouras (Walpole, Mass.) drew a foul in the box in the 68^th minute. O'Connell would score her second goal of the contest in the 87^th minute after collecting a pass from Sam Bishop and sending the ball into the lower right corner of the net.

Nishibun led the Pride with six total shots, including four shots on goal, as Regis outshot Colby-Sawyer 28-6. LeBreton finished with six saves for the Chargers in net. Ori Attridge (Westwood, Mass.) was credited with one save in the first half before Cristina Nazario (Isla Verde, Puerto Rico) appeared in a collegiate match for the first time and played the entire second half.

Regis College (3-2, 2-1 GNAC) hosts Emmanuel College Saturday, Sept. 25, beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Regis Stadium.
