Golf Competes at CCC Fall Qualifier



OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine – The Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team competed at the 2021 Commonwealth Coast Conference Fall Championship Qualifier on Thursday. Forty student-athletes representing all eight conference schools which sponsor golf participated on the par 72 course, which played 6,684 yards.

The top four teams earn a spot at the CCC

Championship to be held the weekend of April 30-May 1. Nichols (319) will host the championship and will be joined by Endicott (321), the University of New England (327), and Suffolk (338). Wentworth posted a team score of 349 to finish tied for seventh.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Junior Ben Wright (Boxborough, Mass.) led the Leopards, shooting an 85 which tied him for 18th place. Senior Nicholas Kurtz (Dover, N.H.) finished a stroke behind him with an 86, which was good for a tie for 23rd place.
  • Junior Albert Duart (Lleida, Spain) placed tied for 26th with an 88, while senior Jared Turgeon (Dover, N.H.) rounded out Wentworth's coring golfers with 90 (tied for 30th place).
  • Freshman Ryan Dandrea (Lakeville, Mass.) also competed for the Black & Gold, posting a 32nd-place finish with a 91.

WHAT'S NEXT:

  • Wentworth heads to the South Shore Country Club in Hingham, Mass., on Monday, September 27, for the Eastern Nazarene Invitational.
