WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons women's soccer player Kashka Gammon (Nashua, N.H.)
was named the Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference and Great
Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the
week of October 5-11, it was announced by each league. Gammon earns the
award from both organizations for the second straight week.
The honor marks the third time that a Simmons College player has been selected by the GNAC this season. Senior Greer Gilbert (Falmouth, Mass.) was also named for the week of September 7-13.
Gammon tallied five goals for 10 points in a pair of matches on the
week. The sophomore registered her first collegiate hat trick with three
goals, including the game-winner in a 4-1 victory at Norwich University
on October 7. The forward capped the week by netting both goals in a
2-0 win at Suffolk University on October 10.
A graduate of Brookline-Hollis High School, Gammon currently leads
the Sharks with 10 goals and 21 points in 13 contests, while ranking
second among conference leaders in both points and goals. Gammon has
racked up multiple goals in three consecutive matches to become the
first Simmons player to notch the achievement in over a decade. She also
has scored at least one marker in each of her last four matches for a
total of eight in that span.
Gammon has played 32 career matches, while making 25 starts. She has
33 lifetime points for the Sharks with 15 goals and three assists.
Simmons is currently 7-6-0 on the season, including a 6-1-0 mark in
league play to sit tied for second in the GNAC standings with Emmanuel
College, who the Sharks will face on Tuesday, October 13 at 7:00 p.m. on
Clemente Field in Boston, Mass.
