The Fighting Scots rolled through doubles play with Justine Hanson (Meadow Vista, Calif.) and Katherine Jeffreys (Parkton, Md.) leading the way at the second flight. The No. 2 duo put up an 8-1 victory, which was replicated at the first flight by Abbie Denney (Peoria, Ariz.) and Tawnie Yeaw (Foothill Ranch, Calif.)
Lily Drescher (Reading, Mass.) and Gabby Brucker (Eleva, Wis.) gave up three games at the third spot.
Hanson started off singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Alisha Silva (Taunton, Mass.) at second singles. Denney dropped a game in the first set, but blanked Alison Vautrin (Somerset, Mass.) in the second set to clinch the match for the Scots.
Yeaw, Jeffreys and Abby Caron (Bedford, N.H.) all put up straight-set victories as well.
Bridgewater State's best chance at a point came from the sixth spot with Bojana Roman (Somerset, Mass.). The sophomore fell to Drescher in the first set 2-6, but marched back with a 6-4 second set to force a super tiebreaker. Drescher, a senior, was able to outlast Roman in the tiebreak, 10-6, to officially settle the match for the Fighting Scots.
The Bears have two big conference matches on the horizon with Rhode Island College and Southern Maine both traveling to Bridgewater.
