Ramsaran Pushes Scots Past Vikings with Walk Off Home Run

WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted Salem State in its home opener and won the game 7-6 with a walk off two-run home run by Arianna Ramsaran in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Fighting Scots (5-10) got on the board first in the bottom of the first with a two-run home run by Caitlin Catalanotto. Chloe Manousos hit a solo home run in the top of the first for the Vikings (7-8) to make it a 2-1 game. Sarah Ryder scored off an error by the catcher in the top of the second to stretch the lead back out to two runs. Salem State scored one run in the top of the fourth and three runs in the top of the fifth to make it a 5-3 game. Gordon tied the game in the bottom of the fifth as Ramsaran reached first off an error by the right fielder that scored Jasmine Mullally and Kristen Brown. Jen Crovo gave the Vikings a 6-5 lead with an RBI single in the top of the sixth inning. The Fighting Scots were able to put two runners on base in the bottom of the sixth with two outs, but were unable to score. They forced two pop outs and a ground out in the top of the seventh to keep the deficit at one run entering the bottom of the inning. Catalanotto hit a single down the left field line to put the game-winning run at the plate with one out. Ramsaran took a ball on the first pitch before hitting the walk off home run to left field to seal the win for Gordon.

Catalanotto batted 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs. Brown went 2-for-3 with two runs and a double. Ramsaran batted 1-for-3 with two RBIs and one run.
