Gordon Rallies For Win In Seventh

WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon rallied for a 7-6 win over Salem State on a walk-off two-run home run by Arianna Ramsaran in the bottom of the seventh inning on Tuesday afternoon. The Vikings took a 6-5 lead in the top of the sixth on an RBI double by Jen Crovo (Melrose, Mass.).

However, Caitlin Catalanotto hit a single down the left field line to bring the game-winning run to the plate with one out. Ramsaran took a ball on the first pitch before hitting the walk off home run to left field to seal the win for Gordon.

The Fighting Scots (5-10) got on the board first in the bottom of the first with a two-run home run by Catalanotto. Chloe Manousos Lowell, Mass.) hit a solo home run in the top of the first for the Vikings (7-8) to make it a 2-1 game. Sarah Ryder scored off an error by the catcher in the top of the second to stretch the lead back out to two runs.

Salem State (7-8) scored one run in the top of the fourth and three runs in the top of the fifth after loading the bases to make it a 5-3 game. Gordon tied the game in the bottom of the fifth as Ramsaran reached first off an error by the right fielder that scored Jasmine Mullally and Kristen Brown.The Fighting Scots were able to put two runners on base in the bottom of the sixth with two outs, but were unable to score. They forced two pop outs and a ground out in the top of the seventh to keep the deficit at one run entering the bottom of the inning. 

Meghan Black (Winchendon, Mass.) started the game for the Vikings allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits in four innings. Brooke Westmoreland (Saugus, Mass.) finished the game in relief, giving up four runs (two earned) on three hits in 2.1 innings.
