Water Polo Splits Conference Double Header with Brown and Conn College

PROVIDENCE, R.I. and NEW LONDON, Conn. – The MIT water polo team, ranked No. 6 in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III poll, split its double header with Brown University and Connecticut College on Saturday afternoon. The Engineers opened the day with an 11-7 loss to Brown, but bounced back with a 17-4 triumph over the Camels in the night cap.

Senior Ory Tasman (Orlando, Fla.) paced the Engineers offense with five goals, while classmate Kale Rogers (Newberg, Ore.) chipped in with four markers of his own. Senior Matthew Orton (Los Altos Hills, Calif.) and freshman Luka Knezevic (Zagreb, Croatia) notched three goals apiece, while sophomore Jeremy Bogle (Weston, Mass.), junior Zach Churukian (Menlo Park, Calif.) and freshman Nikhil Bhatia (Los Altos, Calif.) all scored twice over the weekend.

Water Polo goes 2-2 and Places Fourth at Gary Troyer Tournament

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The MIT water polo team, ranked No. 9 in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association's (CWPA) Division III poll, finished the 2015 Gary Troyer Tournament fourth overall with a record of 2-2 over the weekend in California.

MIT faced off with four quality opponents in the tournament, as three were ranked in last week's CWPA Division III poll. Whittier College was tabbed as No. 1, Johns Hopkins University was No. 2 and Pomona-Pitzer College was ranked No. 5.

Ridgley Earns CWPA Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts – Anthony Ridgley earned Collegiate Water Polo Association Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week honors after posting dominating performances in net for the Crimson this past weekend, as the league announced today.

The freshman was the driving force behind Harvard's best defensive outings of the season this past weekend, making 18 saves in two starts in net, leading Harvard to wins at Fordham and Iona on Sunday. Ridgley made 11 stops against Fordham as Harvard allowed a season-low four goals in an 11-4 victory. Ridgley went on to make seven saves against Iona in a 22-13 triumph as the Crimson completed its Sunday sweep.

Ridgley also dished out two assists and made four steals on the weekend. The Los Angeles, California product leads the Crimson with 56 saves over seven games this season.

Harvard improved to 6-6 on the year and a 4-2 mark in CWPA Northern Division play last weekend. The Crimson will have a weekend off from play before returning to the pool on Oct. 11 for contests at Connecticut College and Brown.
