Men's cross country out to prove 2024 was no fluke

Jeff Warnock, Michael Eddy, William Reiser

WALTHAM, Mass. – It had been eight years since the last time the Bentley men's cross country team qualified for the NCAA Championship. This year, the Falcons are out to prove that 2024 wasn't a fluke.

Last fall, Bentley placed third in the NCAA East Regional, qualifying for the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2016.

The 2025 Falcons bring back five runners who placed on the 2024 national stage. Through the California rain and mud,  Mason Behl timed in at 32:56.3 (217th overall), and Rocco Bueti crossed the finish line in 33:52.5 (247th). Jeff Warnock's time was 34:48.8 (255th), while Hayden MacArthur (34:57.5) and Anthony Cronin (35:19.0) finished consecutively in 258th and 259th, respectively.

The Falcons posted better times in more favorable weather conditions during the NCAA East Regional. For instance, current junior Behl was 18th with a 10K time of 32:16.5. His classmate, Bueti, placed 28th with time of 32:41.9. Max Lampe, now a senior captain, and current junior Hayden MacArthur both finished top 50 of the regional race, crossing the finish line in less than 33:30.00.

The 2025 season begins this Saturday, Sept. 6, in the Hartford Invitational.

Following the opening meet in Hartford, Bentley runs in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational (Sept. 20).

The New England Championships are in Hopkinton, N.H. (Oct. 10), and the NE10 Championships are in Manchester N.H. (Oct. 26).

The NCAA East Regional is back in Hopkinton, N.H. (Nov. 8).

Haikal’s Goal Gives Bentley 1-0 Victory over Caldwell in Opener

Michael Haikal

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Senior captain Michael Haikal scored in the 59th minute to help lift Bentley to a 1-0 victory over Caldwell in the season opener on Thursday on the campus of Georgian Court.

Haikal's goal came just before the hour mark and sent the men's soccer team on its way to the victory.

The Falcons smothered Caldwell defensively and allowed them just one shot on goal and six shots overall.

Bentley had eight shots on goal and 13 overall. Logan Veloria had four shots overall and two on target.

Grad student and fellow team captain Cam Hall helped Bentley keep the clean sheet and record the shutout.

The Falcons next play the hosts Georgian Court on Saturday at 2:00 pm.

Two Second Half Goals Give Bentley Opening Day Win at Molloy

Emily Ojeikere

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Two goals in the second half, both by freshmen, gave the Bentley women's soccer team a 2-1 opening day win at Molloy, the preseason favorites in the East Coast Conference.

The Falcons fell behind 1-0 on a 50th minute goal by Mikaela Barriga.

But goals by freshmen Annie Vigue in the 65th minute and Tilly Fitzgibbons in the 87th minute saw Bentley rally to earn the win.

Vigue's goal was assisted by Emily Ojeikere to tie the score in the 65th minute.

Fitzgibbons then scored the winner with just 3:40 left on the clock. Olivia Matthews, another first year player, had the assist.

Goalkeeper Holly DiPalo made six saves to earn the win.

Bentley will look to make it a 2-0 start to the season on Saturday when they take on Wilmington University on Molloy's campus.
