Women's Tennis Cruises Past Mount Holyoke, 9-0

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College jumped out to a quick lead after doubles and won all six singles matches in straight sets en route to a 9-0 win over Mount Holyoke College in New England

Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's tennis action on Saturday afternoon.

With its third straight victory, Babson is now 9-1 overall and 6-1 in league play, while Mount
Holyoke slips to 7-3 overall and 5-3 in the NEWMAC. The Beavers also clinched the second seed and a bye into the semifinals of the upcoming conference tournament.

The Green and White took control of the match with three lopsided wins in doubles. Sophomores Yagmur Akgul (Istanbul, Turkey) and Jenny Quenard (St.-Legier, Switzerland) stayed unbeaten in dual-match play with an 8-2 victory at number one. Babson's number two pairing of senior Tori Paolino (East Orleans, Mass.) and junior Dina Weick (Woodbridge, Conn.) and its third duo of first-years Eleni Gianelos (West Chester, Pa.) and Chloe Brandt (Denver, Colo.) were also 8-2 winners in their respective matches.

Akgul rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at number one singles, Gianelos cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 result at number two and Quenard posted a 6-0, 6-4 victory at number three. Paolino was a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) winner at fourth singles, Weick won her 10th consecutive match, 6-1, 6-1, at number five, and Brandt stayed unbeaten on the year with a 6-1, 6-0 decision at number six.

Babson wraps up NEWMAC play when it hosts Emerson on Wednesday at 3 p.m., while Mount

Holyoke will return to action at the NEWITT Tournament on Friday.
