Canada will face off against the United States, Finland and host Sweden (Elan Kawesch).
CALGARY, Alta. –Senior Emerance Maschmeyer
and Sarah Edney '15 were named to the Canada Women's National Team's
22-player roster for the 4 Nations Cup in Sundsvall, Sweden, as
announced by Hockey Canada on Tuesday. The tournament will run from Nov.
4-8 at Sundsvall Energi Arena.
The 4 Nations Cup brings together the four top women's hockey
countries in the world, with the 2015 tournament marking the event's
20th anniversary. Canada claimed the 2014 4 Nations Cup with a 3-2 win
over the United States.
Maschmeyer was named to the roster after competing for the Canadian
National Team at the 2015
International Ice Hockey Federation Women's
World Championships and for the Canada Women's Development Team in the
three-game series against the United States in August. The Bruderheim,
Alberta native is 295 saves from breaking the all-time Harvard record,
and is currently tied for the all-time best Harvard mark for save
percentage (.941).
This will be the second 4 Nations Cup for Maschmeyer, who tallied two
wins and 21 saves a year ago in Kamloops, British Columbia.
As a senior, Edney was named the ECAC's Best Defenseman, to the ECAC
first team, and she was the ECAC Tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
For her career, she was a three-time All-ECAC selection and a four-time
All-Ivy honoree. In August, she was the first overall selection in the
Canadian Women's Hockey League Draft.
Harvard women's hockey hosts McGill in an exhibition at Bright-Landry
Hockey Center on Saturday, Oct. 17. The noon contest can be seen live
on the Ivy League Digital Network.
