AMHERST, Mass. – Senior Blake Frohnapfel (football) and sophomore
Carly Zanatta (rowing) are the Dinn Brothers Co-Student-Athletes of the
Week, it was announced on Tuesday by the UMass Sports Lunch Committee.
In UMass’ 24-14 win over FIU on Saturday, Frohnapfel was 32-of-42 for
363 yards and three scores with no interceptions. He connected with
eight different receivers on the day. His long of 57 yards went to
Marken Michel for UMass’ longest score in the air on the season.
Frohnapfel completed 76.2 percent of his attempts on Saturday while the
victory goes as his seventh with 300 or more yards passing and also his
seventh with three touchdowns thrown.
On the season, Frohnapfel has completed 101-of-171 passes attempted with
seven touchdowns and three interceptions. He averages 303.5 passing
yards per game. Among FBS players, he ranks No. 15 nationally in yards
per game and No. 3 nationally in attempts per game (42.8).
Zanatta contributed to four wins and a second-place finish at Head of
the Oklahoma. The sophomore from Ridgeway, Ontario defended her gold
medals in the Open Lightweight 1x, the Open Lightweight 2x and the
Collegiate 1x, recording victories in each race for the second-straight
year. Zanatta also rowed in the gold medal winning Open 4x boat
alongside Sam Kolovson, Jill McGill and Krysten Menks, which finished
with a time of 16:06.36. Zanatta medaled in every race she was a part of
during the weekend competition.
Frohnapfel and Zanatta will be recognized at the weekly lunch on Wed.,
Oct. 7, 12-1:15 p.m. The event will take place in the Jim and Ellen Hunt
Hospitality Room at the Football Performance Center. This week’s
featured speakers are football head coach Mark Whipple and field hockey
head coach Carla Tagliente.
Free parking is available in Lots 10, 11, and 12, located adjacent to
the Football Performance Center. A buffet lunch will be served for $14
per person.
