Criscuolo, Vesey Named 2015-16 Men’s Hockey Captains

CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts – Ted Donato '91, the Robert D. Ziff '88 Head Coach for Harvard Men's Ice Hockey, has announced that seniors Kyle Criscuolo and Jimmy Vesey were voted captains for the 2015-16 season. Criscuolo and Vesey represent the 124th and 125th captains in Harvard men's hockey history.

For the second-straight season Harvard will feature dual captains, as Criscuolo served last season with defenseman Max Everson. A year ago, Criscuolo became the first junior captain for the Crimson since William Ayers '47 wore the 'C' in 1945-46. Criscuolo joins a prestigious group of Harvard hockey players as he is just the fourth-ever two-time captain since the Crimson first took the ice in 1897. George Owen, Jr. '23 was the last two-time captain for Harvard in 1921-22 and 1922-23, with John E.P. Morgan '17 (1915-16, 1916-17) and William S. Beardsell '00 (1898-00, 1899-00) preceding him. Criscuolo, who finished second on the team in points with 48 in 2014-15, capped the year by being named the ECAC Student-Athlete of the Year, the first Harvard player to ever win that award.

Vesey takes on greater leadership duties this season after putting together one of the most prolific offensive seasons in recent Harvard history last year. The Hobey Baker Award finalist and Walter Brown Award winner led the nation with 32 goals and finished third with 58 points. With 56 goals in his career, Vesey enters the 2015-16 season with the most goals of any active player on a Division I college hockey roster. The ECAC and Ivy League Player of the Year last season, Vesey proved to be a dominant force in leading Harvard to the 2015 ECAC Hockey Tournament title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament, both feats not accomplished since 2006.

Harvard begins the year with a home-and-home series against ECAC foe Dartmouth, starting with a road game in Hanover, New Hampshire Oct. 31, 2015. The home-opener at Bright-Landry Hockey Center will take place the following night, Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015 at 7 p.m.
