USA Wins Team Bronze At Lisbon International Tournament

LISBON, Portugal – U.S. junior rhythmic gymnastics all-around champion Laura Zeng of Libertyville, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, and Camilla Feeley of Lincolnshire, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, won the team bronze medal at the Lisbon (Portugal) International Tournament. The Lisbon International Tournament wraps up on Sunday with event finals, and the USA will be represented in all four events. Also, World all-around finalist Jazzy Kerber of Highland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, and Serena Lu of Staten Island, N.Y./Isadora, are competing today in the first round of qualifications for the Lisbon World Cup, which is part of the International Gymnastics Federation's World Cup series.


In the team competition, Russia won the title, followed by Belarus. The USA was fourth going into the last two events and pulled ahead of Azerbaijan to clinch the bronze medal. The team totals were determined by using the best six of eight event scores.

Today, Feeley qualified for the clubs event finals with her fourth-place ranking and 15.100. Zeng tied with Feeley but finished fifth due to the tie-breaker, and only one athlete per country is allowed to compete in each event final. Zeng advanced to the ribbon final when she posted a 14.750 to land in sixth place. Feeley was 10th at 13.950. Yesterday, Zeng qualified for the event finals for both ball and hoop.

At the World Cup, Kerber and Lu are competing in hoop and ball today, with the last two events scheduled for Saturday, when the all-around champion will be determined. The individual event finals are also set for Sunday.

Zeng Qualifies For Two Event Finals At Lisbon International Tournament

LISBON, Portugal – U.S. junior rhythmic gymnastics all-around champion Laura Zeng of Libertyville, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, qualified for two event finals at the Lisbon (Portugal) International Tournament. Zeng and Camilla Feeley of Lincolnshire, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, compete in clubs and ribbon on April 5, which also concludes the team competition. In addition, World all-around finalist Jazzy Kerber of Highland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, and Serena Lu of Staten Island, N.Y./Isadora, will compete in the first round of qualifications for the Lisbon World Cup, , which is part of the International Gymnastics Federation's World Cup series.

At the Lisbon International Tournament, Zeng qualified for the event finals for both ball and hoop. Competing first on ball, Zeng posted a 14.950 and sixth place. For hoop, Zeng earned a 15.150, the second highest mark for the qualification round. Feeley scored a 14.400 on ball for 10th and tied at 13.800 but finished 15th due to the tie-breaker in the hoop. Friday's competition includes qualification rounds for clubs and ribbon and determines the team competition. The event finals are scheduled for Sunday.

At the World Cup, Kerber and Lu will compete in hoop and ball on Friday, with the last two events scheduled for Saturday, when the all-around champion will be determined. The individual event finals are also set for Sunday.

Rhythmic Gymnastics Is In Action This Week In Portugal

LISBON, Portugal – World all-around finalist Jazzy Kerber of Highland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, and reigning U.S. junior rhythmic gymnastics all-around champion Laura Zeng of Libertyville, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, headline the squad from the United States set to compete at two competitions this week in Lisbon, Portugal.

Fresh off winning the clubs bronze medal at the KFK Gracia Cup, Serena Lu of Staten Island, N.Y./Isadora, will join Kerber at Lisbon World Cup, which is part of the International Gymnastics Federation's World Cup series. Champions will be named in the all-around and all four individual events.

Zeng and Camilla Feeley of Lincolnshire, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, will compete in the Lisbon International Tournament, a junior event, which is held in conjunction with the World Cup. Zeng and Feeley will use the event as part of their preparation for the Junior Pan American Championships, a Youth Olympic Games qualifying event, scheduled for May 9-11 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
