Angie Miller: American Idol Top Three Hometown Visit

Beverly, Massachusetts - Nineteen year old Angie Miller had chance to come home after being announced as one of the remaining top three American Idol contestants. Apart of Angie's visit she visited her family, local radio station and even had a parade in her honor.

Angela Kristine "Angie" Miller born February 17, 1994 is an American musician, vocalist, and singer–songwriter. She is currently a Top 3 finalist on the 12th season of American Idol.

Miller was born and raised in Beverly, Massachusetts. She is the daughter of Guy and Tana Miller, and younger sister of Jonathan Miller. As of 2013, Miller's parents Pastors at Assemblies of God church, known as Remix Church, which is located in Salem, Massachusetts.

When Miller was a child, doctors discovered that the protective covering over her eardrum was no longer there. She has had two surgeries to insert tubes in her ears. A month before her American Idol audition in New York in September 2012, she was fitted with silicon spray ear plugs. She is partially deaf, with 20 percent hearing loss in her right ear and 40 percent in her left.

Miller graduated from Beverly High School in 2012. She was a member of the school choir for four years and the honors vocal ensemble for one year. She performed in multiple school musicals, appearing in the role of Miss Dorothy in a rendition of Thoroughly Modern Millie.

Before her American Idol debut, Miller served as one of the lead singers of the worship band at Remix Church. An active member in her father's church, she supported the church by leading music groups.

Miller auditioned in New York City, with "Mamma Knows Best." In the final round of auditions held in Hollywood, she played the piano and performed her original song "You Set Me Free", which has been viewed over 3.6 million times on YouTube.

Angie covered Nobody's Perfect by Jessie J during Las Vegas Round, and received positive reviews from the judges. On March 7, 2013, Miller was voted into the Top 10, following her performance of "I Surrender" by Celine Dion. After the tabulation of public votes, it was announced that she was one of the night's top three contestants, along with Candice Glover and Kree Harrison. On April 3, 2013, Miller performed a rendition of "Bring Me To Life" by Evanescence; the following night, public votes revealed that she was named one of the top three contestants along with Lazaro Arbos and Kree Harrison.[6] She performed Halo during the Top 5 and received critical acclaim from the judge panel. She is the only contestant who has never been in the bottom group. Randy Jackson has praised her vocal talent, stating her tone is similar to Hayley Williams's, (Paramore's lead singer).

On May 4th, Angela Miller was given a "homecoming parade" in her hometown of Beverly following her being named one of the top 3 on Idol.

Hollywood, California - Angie Miller (19), a Beverly, Massachusetts native Angie Miller dedicated her first performance on April 17th, 2013 American Idol to Boston after what took place on Monday afternoon.

“Right when [the bombings] happened, I knew that I wanted to have some sort of dedication-- show my love for Boston-- in some sort of way,” Miller told Fox News after her performance.

She said she chose the ballad “I’ll Stand by You” to express how she was feeling about her hometown after the tragic bombings at the Boston Marathon on Monday, which left three dead and 176 injured.

“I love Boston. I want Boston to know that I love them, and I hope that song did that,” she said, adding that the song’s lyrics “fit perfectly” with her emotions.

Immediately following Monday’s events, Miller posted on Twitter about her hometown.

“My heart is breaking,” she wrote. “Praying for all of you in Boston right now, and to all the families of those who were injured.”

She later added: “My heart is going out to my home.”

After her performance of "I'll Stand By You" she later sang Beyonces "Halo" during American Idol performance night with the themes "Year of Birth" and "Diva". Angie sang beautifully during the live performance show on American Idol April 17th, 2013 in Hollywood, California.
