WALTHAM, Mass. - The Endicott women's volleyball claimed two five-set victories on Saturday afternoon, defeating nationally ranked #22 Babson and Brandeis by 3-2 finals to improve to 12-7 overall on the season.


The trio of Amanda Gilbert (Hopkinton,

Mass.)Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.) and Krystina Schueler (Trumbull, Conn.) led the Endicott attack, finishing as the top three kill leaders in both matches. Against AVCA #22 Babson, Gilbert finished with a match-high 16 kills to go with 15 digs, before finishing with a 12 kill effort in the win over Brandeis. McAvoy finished the day hitting .468 overall after going 13-4-21 (.429) against Babson, and 15-2-26 (.500) against the Judges. In both matches, McAvoy finished with a match-high hitting percentage. Schueler added 20 kills in the wins, finishing with 10 in each match.


Lauren McGrath (Franklin, Mass.) finished with a team best 28 assists against the Beavers and 30 against the Judges, adding nine and 10 digs, in the respective matches. Danica Glover (Seal Beach, Calif.) completed the 6-2 offense, 17 assists and nine digs against Babson before finishing with 24 assists and four digs against Brandeis.


Freshman Emma Ruel (Duxbury, Mass.) led the Gulls defensive efforts, picking up 14 digs in the win over Babson before setting a career-high with 21 in the win over Brandeis.


BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • This is the second nationally ranked win for the Gulls on the season, as Endicott previously defeated AVCA then No. 20 Bowdoin 3-1 on Sept. 10.
  • Endicott has now won seven straight decisions against Brandeis.
  • The Gulls have now leveled the all-time series against the Beavers at 7-7.
  • Endicott has now played six five-set matches on the season as the Gulls are 4-2 in those contests.
