Lawrence, Massachusetts - The Lawrence Police Department is investigating a motor vehicle crash that took place at the intersection of Essex and Appleton Street involving a pedestrian. The crash occurred this morning just after 8:00 am. The pedestrian is a 57 year old female from Lawrence. She was treated on scene by the Lawrence Fire Department along with Paramedics and EMTs from Lawrence General Hospital. She was transported by ambulance to that facility, and subsequently airlifted to a Boston Hospital.
The crash is under investigation by the Lawrence Police, the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit, and the Essex State Police Unit assigned to District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett’s Office. The operator of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Portions of Essex Street were shut down during the investigation and have since been reopened.
