Eagles Fall in Extras Against No. 10 Bulldogs

BC HIGHLIGHTS
  • Freshman Carly Severini went 1-of-4 at the plate, extending her hitting streak to eight games.
  • Sophomore Jordan Chimento (0-3) drew a walk and has now reached base safely in nine consecutive games.
  • Sophomore Annie Murphy was 1-of-4 with one RBI. She has now recorded a hit in five straight games.
  • Sophomore Jessica Dreswick threw five innings of three-hit ball, allowing three runs (two earned).
  • This was the Eagles' first game this season that went extra innings and the first since 2013.

TURNING POINT
  • Georgia tallied a run in the bottom of the 10th to earn the victory

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Eagles started the scoring in the top of the third, with a single by senior Jessie Daulton bringing home freshman Danielle Thomas.
  • The Bulldogs responded in the bottom half of the inning, quickly loading the bases. Kaylee Puailoa flew out to center field scoring one run with Alex Hugo scoring the second off a throwing error on the play.
  • Boston College wouldn't wait long to answer back, retaking the lead in the top of the fourth. Murphy got things going with a single that plated junior Madison Paulson. A sacrifice fly from senior Megan Cooley would late bring home Murphy to give the Eagles a 3-2 edge midway through the fourth.
  • Georgia would even things up in the bottom of the fifth with a sacrifice fly from Puailoa scoring Cortni Emanuele.
  • The Bulldogs would win it in the bottom of the 10th when a Maeve McGuire double brought around the winning run.
