CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Simmons College crew team's
Varsity Eight placed 19th out of 32 entries in the historic 51st Head of
the Charles Regatta this afternoon on the Charles River in Cambridge,
Mass.
The eight from Williams College turned in a time of 17:25.577 to win the race.
The Sharks overcame a three-second deficit at the Weld point of the
race to move past Rochester Institute of Technology's shell and went on
to finish with a mark of 18:46.887. Senior Chelsea Foster (Avon, Conn.) took the oar in the bow seat, followed by first year Sarah Bohan (Guilford, Conn.), seniors Allie Belanger (Blackstone, Mass.), Sophie Stone (Greenland, N.H.), sophomores Erica Bartle (Arlington, Mass.), Erin Lilienthal (East Lyme, Conn.), senior Jill Bolduc (Methuen, Mass.) and sophomore stroke Ronnie Bennett (Pottstown, Pa.). Junior Olivia Smiaroski (Northfield, Mass.) led the crew from the coxswain seat.
The Sharks will race again on Sunday, November 1 when they compete in
the Seven Sisters Championship hosted by Mount Holyoke College in South
Hadley, Mass.
