Babson Women's Soccer Falls to No. 9/9 Brandeis, 1-0, in OT

BABSON PARK, Mass.— Senior Cidney Moscovitch (Coral Springs, Fla.) scored 5:41 into overtime to lift ninth-ranked Brandeis University to a 1-0 victory over Babson College in non-conference women's soccer action on Tuesday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field.

Babson, which saw its four-game unbeaten streak come to an end, is now 3-2-2 on the year, while Brandeis improves to 8-0-0.

Following a corner kick, senior Jessica Morana (Shrewsbury, Mass.) had her shot from the edge of the six-yard box deflected and momentarily cleared out of danger. The Judges regained possession though, and sent in another cross that Morana headed to her left for Moscovitch, who slotted her shot past a pair of defenders on the goal line for the winner.

Sophomore Elizabeth Mycock (Windham, Maine) played the final 51 minutes and made two saves for Babson, while her counterpart, senior Alexis Grossman (Syosset, N.Y.) of Brandeis, also turned away two shots.

The Judges had the best scoring chance for either side in the first half only to see senior Lea McDaniel's (Phoenix, Ariz.) shot through traffic following a corner kick cleared off the line by a Beavers' defender in the 29th minute. McDaniel also missed wide of the left post following a Babson giveaway in the 63rd minute and Mycock made a diving save at the left post to deny Judges' junior Samantha Schwartz (Highland Park, Ill.) in the 76th minute.

Babson sophomore Kathryn Clark (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) missed just wide after taking a long thru ball from junior Kelsey Ford (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) in the 58th minute. The Green and White also saw senior Olivia Kerester (Chappaqua, N.Y.) send a shot wide of the left post less than a minute into extra time.

Brandeis finished with an 11-6 edge in shots and attempted six of the game's seven corner kicks.

Both teams return to action on Saturday as Babson visits Smith at 3 p.m., while Brandeis travels to Tufts at 1 p.m.

GAME NOTES
•    The Beavers are now 17-21-3 all-time against Brandeis.
•    The Judges are unbeaten in 31 straight games (28-0-3) against teams from New England going back to the start of the 2014 season.
•    Tuesday's loss snapped Babson's 13-game home unbeaten streak.
•    Tuesday's loss also marked just the third time in the last 40 games that the Beavers were defeated when conceding one goal or less.
