Springfield Four Student-Athletes to Compete at NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships

Springfield, Mass.  - Four members of the Springfield College men's and women's swimming and diving progams will represent The College at the 2016 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships at Greensboro Coliseum Complex in Greensboro, N.C from March 16-19, 2016.

From the men's swimming program, senior Michael Normoyle (Springfield, Mass.) will be making his fourth-straight trip to the national stage, while from the women's swimming program, senior Alyssa Carle (Franklin, Mass.), and juniors Delaney Dyjak (Ludlow, Mass.) and Emily Medeiros (Wakefield, Mass.) all earned a trip to the NCAA Championships after their impressive marks over the past two weeks.

Normoyle, a senior Biology major at Springfield, will compete in the 200 individual medley, the 100 breaststroke, where he is ranked 16th overall with a time of 55.94 seconds, and the 200 breaststroke, where he is ranked 14th overall with a time of 2:02.28.

Medeiros, a junior Physical Therapy major, will be making her third-consecutive trip to the national stage, as she is coming off a pair of NEWMAC Championship swims in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Medeiros is seeded fifth overall in two events, with a time of 2:16.12 in the 200 and a time of 1:02.68 in the 100, both Springfield College school records.

Dyjak, a junior Criminal Justice major at Springfield College, will be making her second trip to the NCAA Championships and will be competing in three events, all of which she won at the NEWMAC Championships earlier this season. The events will be the 50 free, where she ranks 15th overall with a time of 23.53 seconds, the 100 butterfly, where she is 22nd with a time of 56.39 seconds, and the 100 freestyle, where she ranks 27th with a time of 51.59 seconds.

Carle, a senior Elementary and Special Education major at Springfield College, will be making her first trip to the NCAA Championships this weekend, and will compete in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, where she is ranked 21 and 22, respectively, and in the 200 individual medley. The Pride will begin competition on March 16.
