Naumec Shoots -7 To Lead BC To Third Place

ELLINGTON, Conn. – Freshman Matthew Naumec fired a final round 65 (-7) to lead the Boston College men's golf team to a third place finish out of 16 teams at The Connecticut Cup, hosted by the University of Connecticut at Ellington Ridge Club.

Naumec's 65 was the lowest round of the tournament by a stroke. He led all players in the third round by going -3 on par 4s and -4 on par 5s. He was one of five players with an eagle in the final round and was second with seven birdies.

Boston College finished third overall with a combined team score of +7. TCU won the tournament at -19 while Dartmouth came in second at -2. Connecticut (+9) and Bryant (+18) rounded out the top 5.

Senior Nicholas Pandelena was also under par with a final round 69 (-3). He and Naumec finished at even par for the tournament which was tied for 11^th overall. Sophomore Patrick Hallisey finished T18 (+4), senior Brian Butler was T47 (+12) and junior Patrick Oleksak was T56 (+15).

Boston College led the field in par 3 scoring (+2) in the final round by a stroke. It was also second in par 4 scoring (+4) and fourth in birdies (15).

The Eagles will take part in the Maryland Terrapin Invitational next Monday and Tuesday at the Woodmont Country Club in Bethesda.
